yo did anyone watch the dolphins preseason highlights.....henne has a rocket arm....he looks like a problem
He went the only place where he could start. Despite the media hating Tavaris Jackson, Minn loves him and Chad was not a good fit for Chicago. Herm seems to have attached his star to Croyle, but with that team it makes sense because they really have nothing.
I don't get why a lot of fans don't seem to realize that for these players, football is their livelihood, not some hobby. The Dolphins offered Chad the most money and were the only team guaranteeing a starting job. He'd have been a moron not to go there.
I think chad was being honest for the most part. I don't think anyone else would offer him 11.5 million for 2 years and the starting job.
No one but Miami had a realistic shot. Think about it...Instant starter...Parcells...Big Money...Arch Rival of the team you just got cut from... I'd sign with Miami if that was the position I was in.
Favre wanted to start for the Packers or Vikings, but the Packers prevented that - no one is under the impression that the Jets were his first choice (indications are that he would have preferred Tampa Bay, also). Pennington is a free agent, and could in theory sign anywhere. Considering his age and how much longer his career is likely to be, choosing to sign with the team with the worst record in the NFL last year, and second worst record overall in the last two years, opens up the question of why, especially since the team hasn't made any obvious moves to improve that he would have known about. I think the various theories given (familiarity with the AFC East and with the coaches, the opportunity to start, and get a starter's salary, limited opportunities elsewhere) are reasonable, but to think that there could also be an aspect of revenge to it is reasonable too.
i thought all along that fins made perfect sense 1. bill likes him 2. No pressure 3. Decent running game. 4. immeasurably better than anyone they have
Sorry, but what part of "great guy" am I missing? Chad was a "great guy?" Was he a "great guy" when he demanded his release from the Jets a few months ago? Or maybe he was a "great guy" when he violated the team's "zip your lips" policy, and revealed that the Jets were chasing Brett Favre? Or maybe he was a "great guy" when he was injured last year, but still insisted on starting, even though his injuries were hurting the Jets? And only revealed this information a few months ago, as a reason to explain why he sucked as the Jets' QB? Really, I would like someone to excplain to me how Chad Pennington was such a "great guy." To me, he was just another selfish, professional athlete.
I doubt that kind of...He signed so quickly, and made certain comments that seemed that he was more of a scorned player . The way he used exact quotes from Tanny about him not being the QB that could lead the team to where they wanted to go. He could start on at least a few teams, and of those few Miami is by far the worst of the group. When he spoke at his newsconference (after he got cut), he made remarks like that he thought (even between him and Favre) that he could take the team furthest. I'm sorry Favre>Penny. He seemed semi delusional. I think it's a tough call on that. Penny was a great guy in green, but I don't think you can say he is a better person than favre...It's your opinion, and I'm not telling you you're wrong, but I think he should be given some time here and see what is what. I wasn't trying to degrade Chad, just say that it seems more spite than anything. I can't think that he didn't make a good amunt of money, so I would think he would want to go where he felt he had a real shot at winning. He would still make solid bucks to play on a better team. Poverty isn't the reason he signed with the pish. I think roster-wise, the Jets have upgraded key positions, and had a team that may have been in the playoffs as long as Chad or Kellen had remained healthy. But if Favre plays at even 80% the Jets could really make a run this year. As long as the team stays healthy. Favres first choice was the Packers, no doubt. But depending on who you believe in that saga the blame, or the majority of it, lies on different people. And while I think some of his press conference prior to the game at Cle were telling that he would have rather been in GB, but it wasn't in the cards. And as far as the trade goes, I think the Jets were his best choice, and that he wants to here. I'm not saying we can't have another bad year, but I think our ability to do some great things really happened when Favre got here. If he starts all 16 games that will give the offense more continuity than it has has since 2002. So I do think we have a realistic chance at the playoffs, and the vaGiants proved it, once you get in anything can happen. It isn't really a comaprison between the Jets and the Phish. The Jets went out and brought in key FAs, filling holes we had during last season. The Phins got rid of their best player, and made no significant moves aside from Chads signing. There is plenty of talent on the Jets now, and the fact we have solid WRs like Coles and Cotch, Baker is a solid TE, and Keller looks like he has a good shot to really help stretch the defense but a solid passing game (that consists of more than the dink-dunk Chad play) will allow TJ and Leon to do well behind a nicely rebuilt O line. Maybe it is spite, maybe it isn't.
That is just so far off it is ridiculous. You could debate his physical skills, but while he was here he was a stand up guy, and everyone would crow about what a great teamate he was. I think the Phish signing is the only thing he has done to make him look like a spiteful dick...Before that I don't think I could have called Chad anything bad, aside form noodle arm.
Unless that's sarcasm, I totally agree with you. He'll speak whats on his mind really but would try to avoid controversies. He went to the Dolphins because he wanted to start, not be a backup. Get paid $6m a yr and be the starter was the best scenario for Chad. Cowboys probably would have signed him for $2m and backup Romo. What scenario fits the best? Keep in mind, football is where he makes his living.
What the fuck have you been drinking lately? When the hell did Chad DEMAND his release? You are fuckin insane dumbass!!!
He scares me too. Any guy who can take Michigan to the Rose Bowl as a true freshman is a danger. He is underrated and in 3 years he could begin to resurrect the Fins. Here's to them never having a line to protect him and turning him into David Carr
Dude he is a troll. He does it on purpose. His name and avatar have something to do with each other and he's annoying on purpose. Its best to not read his posts. He could also be a Pats fan dicking around. He's a sad man who needs attention on a message board, while the rest of us are here to share our thoughts on our beloved team.
^I guess so. I really don't pay attention to the jerk, but his last few comments are out of the roof.
IIRC I think Chad asked the FO to allow him to find a team to trade with or give him his walking papers after the season...I think it was because of all the "Kellen will start" talk after the season. I know he didn't 'demand' anything though. As far as Bosko goes, there used to be a guy on here named Bosco (again, IIRC) but he wasn't a total douche when he posted stuff. I think Champ could find him on his big creepy like/don't like spreadsheet. The fact that he has one, and I actually know of it is scary...
