I would love to have Gerard or Cutler. Edwards did a nice job for Buffalo last year and he is going to be pushed to the wall to start. The only team with a worse QB situation than us was Baltimore but they spent a first to get a QB.

Don't forget we had a crappy QB making 6 million this year so we had the money to change out for Favre. Edwards I'm sure is making less than a million and so is Bolger. Gerard and Cutler are already established NFL QB's with great upside.

Well I guess U & I have different opinions of Garrads, Edwards & Culters abilities vs BF. I would take BF in a heartbeat over them & trust me when PO time comes & one of those teams fail in the POs there fans will be asking there FO/CS why did they not make a play for BF

You would have to be out of your mind to dump Cutler for Favre on a rebuilding Denver team. Gerard played better than Favre in last years playoffs, he showed tremendous upside. You also don't have a clue on the cap status of those teams. The Jets had the luxury of unloading a huge salary in Pennington to take Favre and still keep 3 young development QB's on the roster. This was a perfect situation for us.

Yes you are correct from a salary cap POV I do not know there present status. As I said ur opinion of Garrard & mine are like nite & day & in his case the salary cap may have come into play since Jax upgraded his contract. Edwards is still working on a rookie contract so he could sit while BF showed them how to do things. Cutler I am not sure but he to may still be working on his rookie contract & also could have warmed the bench for training purposes. I also do not know about Den "rebuilding" when they took on DeW who is surely no youngster

Its the burden of the Gun slinging quarter back! Take Vinny for example. Vinny got his reputation of throwing the big interception by always being in situations that required him to have to try and win it all by himself. Flash back to 98 and Vinny had a supporting cast that took that burden off of his shoulders. Favre is on the same path right now as far as any of us can tell; until the season begins and we see who really has come to play ball. The trends shown in the article info are reversible and many fans may be dismayed to see Farve Do his bet impersonation of Chad while checking down to the 5-10 dump pass rather then make the mistake of trying to thread the needle.

rebuilding doesn't mean you have to sign/acquire young players and young players only.

I, for one, would have been interested in seeing Pennington behind this O-line. I know his stats are said to be padded, do to the "dink and dunk" offense he's played, but it would be interesting to see what the NFL"S most accurate passer, could have done when given time to throw.

I'm still excited to see what a Jets team, with Favre at the helm, is going to look like, though.

Great slant Winston... nevermind the part about being a SB winning, multiple MVP, and future HoF'er.

What is the big deal? For wasting a top pick on a QB that will most likely retire in less than 2 years and not produce a championship. Do you really believe BF could get the team any further than CP? I certainly don't!!

Now explain to me the difference if CP was here with the same results? Yes, they wouldn't have wasted the pick. And the Jets still would have made the playoffs.

The article by Paolantonio is so dead on it's scary yet many here think having him is such a HUGH upgrade? CP no doubt would have gotten this Jets team into the playoffs, based on past history. The repaired offensive line would have made the difference, yet unfortunately we will never see that come to fruition. BF comes in and is labled hero before the first pass is thrown in a reg. season game. Let's see what the results are after 4-6 games.

Favre isnt worth a first round pick thats for sure. I do know that I would much rather have Favre under center than Pennington. Favre adds the element of excitement to every down and is a proven winner. Pennington while talented can't stay healthy long enough to make the difference.

You realize to get that #1 pick we have to play in the SB?

I would have loved to have seen him get a chance to play on some better teams. He had all the tools and the heart you could ask for in a QB.

What I find utterly AMAZING is that banwagon fan would jump on a screen name like "Favrenstien" the second the Jets trade for him. It's a sure sign of a bandwagon fan that's jumping on in hopes of a good ride. Chad had limitations, and I never thought he was a great QB, but he gave you Jet fans "everything" he had, maybe a little respect is in order.

Not only that, but what Jet fans don't yet realize is that CP now makes the phins a better team, one the Jets always seem to a hard time with no matter who the QB is anyway, much less one with something to prove now. In the end what many Jet fans have lost in the hype is the simple question of, "What difference does it make going 7-9 or 9-7 with Chad or with Favre??? At the end of the year the Jets are still without a QB for the future.

He was on some decent teams, even got into Super Bowl XX but it was getting out of hand by the time they put him in. The reason Jet fans hate him is because he was good.

Exactly. I think a lot of posters here are either addicted to Madden or more interested in Punt, Pass & Kick competitions than winning football games.

Uh, he forgot to mention how well Favre scrambles in the pocket like he's got eyes sprinkled all over his head, makes throws on the run, makes something out of nothing, time and time again. He acts as if the entire Packers' record hangs soley on Favre's head.

Well Marino NEVER won a Super Bowl.[IMG]

Now you really are acting like a troll. Jets fans realize Chad makes the Fins better. The Fins QB situation stinks, Clemens would make the Phins QB situation better this year.

The Jets have 3 development QB's on the squad two of which are certainly possible QB's of the future and the third may well be also? Hard to know since he hurt his hand early in TC which will allow us to put him on IR and hang onto him for another camp.

The Jets unloaded an old twice repaired shoulder QB who has an injury history and one season of playing 16 games for a an old QB who hasn't ever missed a game who is healthy and who is outright better. The Jets also substantially upgraded the talent around the QB position and are certainly in a position to compete for the playoffs this year if like every other NFL team they stay healthy and the coaching staff does a great job. The Jets may bomb completely but they also have assembled on paper a pretty good football team. Favre has taken multiple teams to 11, 12, 13 and 14 win season, Pennington has never taken a Jets team past 10 and has never earned a first game bye. The guy has one season with over 20 TD passes in his career.
