Traditionalist ? Maybe just too young. Parcells was the traditionalist who brought back the "old" uniforms to try to change the luck of the franchise. That crappy JETS helmet (78-97) along with the written Giants helmets were when both franchises were having an identity crisis about playing in Jersey and trying to please fans on both sides of the river. They removed any reference to NY.
The added a black border to the white elements as well. That was the mark of Bruce Coslet, by the way.
1963 was interesting. I wonder why that design was scrapped so quickly? The 1993 special (worn for 1 game, 17-12 win over Cincy) was a pathetic attempt at a throwback. check out the broncos 1962-1965 design, looks like a dead horse.
wow thats a great site, they even have a ton of high school helmets, even my old high school. i like some of the concept nfl ones too. definitely not the jets ones though. the panthers one on the bottom is really cool looking.
I like those too, but unfortunately, they are inexorably linked to losing. We sucked in those uniforms, it's too bad. They bring back a lot of frustrating and bad memories, and those Rich Kotite press conferences...
I like all of the classic uniforms - Colts, Packers, Cowboys. The current Jet's uniform is classic, simple, and has tradition written all over it. What is hate... is some of these new team uniforms that have complex logos have changed up their colors to dark blue, dark, red, dark everything - seems like teams that change up their colors every ten years are selling out to the latest fad. IMO, these teams would do more for fan loyalty to never buy-into what the latest color trends are and just keep the uniforms the same. Case and point: Tampa Bay - had to change their colors and logo. The colors are ok (very typical) however, the logo is comic bookish. Baltimore - ok... purple and black and a stupid logo of a raven with a B on it. New England - sellouts like everyone else, went with the darker colors. Rams - again, had to update their colors to something darker and more quote updated. At least they didn't get rid of the ram horns and put some stupid sideways picture of a ram on their helmet.
Even if it was just the NY on the side of the helmet without the oval in green text. That logo is awesome, underrated and hardly used.
