I dont have a problem with A-Rod trying to get the second on that play the problem is he didn't really run that hard untill he got around 1st and Overbay threw a strike to 2nd.

Damon looks great out there in center.

I agree on ARod. He lollygags to first, then decides to go for second. Garbage.

Damon is absolute shit in center field. I don't give a flying fuck if Melky can't bunt the ball fairly, baseball is won with defense, and Damon showed exactly none tonight.

The ridiculous number of "DH"s is disgusting too. Not because we have so many, but because we have so many that can't hit a damned baseball.

Top to bottom, this "deep" lineup is constructed of absolute shit. Amazingly, on the postgame show, the first thing Newman and Flaherty talked about was that you can't blame the Yankees hitters for not hitting because Burnett was so on. They went on to talk about how Abreu had a good night because he was able to go deep into counts. Well, I have to say to myself "why the hell can't OTHER supposedly 'great' hitters go deep into counts?"

My shit list is a mile long right now. I haven't washed my hands of Cashman yet, but yeah, he's a primary reason for this ragtag piece of shit team. Girardi is fucking garbage. Where's his motivation? The fire he was supposed to bring in?

But let's put the blame right where it belongs. This "offense" is worthless. Jeter, ARod, Giambi, Matsui, Pudge. Can any of these assholes hit a baseball?

This team deserves to come in last.

EXACTLY! He stood there and watched the hit for a second then started running then turned it on near 1st base. if he runs hard out of the box he's on 2nd.

This might have been the death blow to our season, this was a game we should have won. Hopefully we bounce back and win this series.

Well with the way this team has hit this season I'd say there is almost no chance in hell we beat Halladay on Thursday and with the way this team hits lefties we might even lose today to David fuckin Purcey.

Hah! I just came back from the store getting lunch, and saw the back page of the Post. It says simply "Bring Back Melky" with a picture of that idiot Damon last night.
    ---------------

I was talking with my brother this morning and I realized in all of the 30 years I've been a Yankees fan I've never disliked the team. This year, I actually hate them. I'm not to the point of rooting against them yet, but I'm damn close.
    ---------------

We were actually discussing the offseason, and I was thinking, if we had a dream offseason, we could be really good next year. The lineup I came up with is:

Jeter SS (though I'd like to see him moved to the outfield.)
Abreu RF (yes, I'd bring him back.)
    Teixiera 1B
ARod 3B (though he should be the SS)
Manny DH (yes, I'd bring him in as a DH and dump Matsui, Giambi and Damon)
    Nady LF
Posada C (I know, not the greatest option, but he's got 3 more years and first base is taken)
Cano 2B (who I would trade in a heartbeat at this point, but what other option do we have?)
    AnyoneNotNamedGardner CF (yeah, even Melky)

In the rotation, we could be formidable if they're willing to pony up the dough:

    Sheets
    Sabathia
    Chamberlain
    Wang
    Pettitte

Then move Rasner into long relief for good, and use Veras and Marte for late innings and of course Mo to close.

Pretty big dreams there. Chances are slim we'd sign all of those guys, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Anyway, just something to talk about, since this season is in the tank.

The think about moving Jeter to the outfield is that, with his range/age, he'd probably only be viable on the corners. Does his bat justify a spot like that anymore, or are you better off swallowing the sub-average defense at short?

I don't know, because I suck at math.

I know. That's why I say it's not outside the realm of possibility. Honestly, I think the issue will more be that someone like Tex won't want to come here, more than we won't give him a golden key to do it. Who knows how comfortable Sabathia is now too. It's kind of hard to not be happy about being ridiculously dominant.

Yeah, honestly, I don't like either option. What I've said in the past was that I'd like to move Jeter to second, ARod to short, and Cano to third. The problem with that now is that Cano is a lazy sack of shit, and I don't think he could handle the position. His arm is more than good enough, but he'd have to learn to actually play without taking a nap. The other problem being that Princess Derek wouldn't take the "demotion" too lightly.

I'm sure Hal will be thrilled to give out $400 million dollars this off-season.

That's another factor. Hal doesn't like to spend money, correct? Doesn't he really not give a damn about the team at all? He's more of just a "I run the family business because it's lining my pockets" kind of guy, right?

It should be interesting either way. Honestly, what I expect is to get either Sheets or Sabathia, and if we can convince Teixiera to come here, he'll be the only other significant FA signing. I doubt we get both pitchers, and I doubt the organization wants to risk Manny in the dugout.

Of course, getting all 4 would be really, really nice. Especially if we can bring back Abreu.

A long term contract for Sabathia is going to be immensely risky, the way Milwaukee's been using him.

Certainly not a bad strategy by the Brewers for this season, as long as he holds off on the breakdown for now.

See it could come down to this man and I say this because their conservative "seller" approach with respect to free agency (i.e. keep the farm), clearly did not work. They may just resort back to shelling out the loot.
