I love old buildings and as far as feeling liek you are in a Stadium from the 20s or 30s Fenway rates higher but Fenway doesn't have half the history Yankee Stadium has. Yankee Stadium is THE greatest Stadium in the history of modern sports and it's not even close. No other Stadium has hosted the # of importan events that Yankee Stadium has. The Stadiulm itself isn't a great Stadium just like Fenway itself is a dump it's about history. fenway is orignal, ours was made over but as far as history btw the lines its laughable to even briong up Fenway or Wrigley or any other Stadium.
I played center field in 1968 (high school game) at Yankee Stadium and it was the most memorable sports moment of my life - even as a Met fan. It was a bit overwhelming to be standing on the same field, and same spot as Mickey Mantle and Joe D. I took home some blades of grass that got lost years ago. Most disappointing was the visiting team clubhouse. Surprisingly small.
there was another similar article I read from this guy from Forbes. now knowing that he works for Forbes you know its already wrong cause what do they know about sports lol. but he then said that Shit hole Shea is better than Yankee stadium...thats one thing but then to say that Shea is more fan friendly, psst...please and that Bob sheppard sounds depressing is just wrong
What Colisseum are you comparing it with? Nassau? or The Roman? dude that's a bit of a stretch to say the least. you're assuming baseball is the most popular sport in the world....let's not overstate this thing so much. It's hallowed ground to Yankee fans, baseball fans, Americans. It's merely a curiosity to most around the world if they've even heard about it. Christ, in Canada, the old Maple Leaf Gardens or the Forum in Montreal were cathedrals and they could give a crap about Yankee Stadium. Not to mention the "real" football stadiums around the world with much history. That being said, at least based on pictures , it's nothing like the orginal......but it still holds quite a few memories/classics.
 I also prefer Wrigley and Fenway, but I'm a Yankee hater so take that for what it's worth. Dodger Stadium is constantly refurbished but they manage to keep the original early-60s look and feel to it. It helps that the weather doesn't kick the shit out of it every winter, too.
Yankee stadium will always have a special place in my history. It was home to one of the greatest concerts I have ever seen and the most crazy night of my life. As for a baseball game at Yankee stadium, I felt more of an aroura at Fenway and Wrigley, more of an aroma at Yankee stadium though.
Yankees stadium is a dump. There was nothing unique about the stadium itself. The teams it house were greated but a 12 yeard old could have designed that stadium.
It doesn't matter if people around the World are baseball fans, there isn't a more famous Stadium than yankee Stadium or a more famous team than the Yankees. Everywhere you go people have heard of the Yankees.
