I heard on the commentary yesterday saying that LC had some kind of problem with his feet, where he has to wear open toe'd sandals because of pain in his toes....anyone know more about this? This made me laugh........
He has a toe that will be a problem with him for the rest of his playing career. They use open toed shoes to keep the inflammation (and swelling) under control for his practicing. He says it will hurt him for the rest of the time he plays -- that's just it.
Not sure exactly Gus, but I do know it's the same "muscle and ligament" condition that former Miami wideout OJ McDuffie had. Maybe a really, really severe form of turf toe? When he was with the Skins they wanted Coles to have surgery, but McDuffie had surgery on his toe and it ended his career, so Coles said he'd rather play in pain. It doesn't seem to limit Coles on gameday but it's obviously an issue. He's a tough guy.
Glad to see Coles step up and let his Pennington man-crush go... Great job, sorry about the toes homie.
He's actually part duck and has webbed feet. This explains why he loved pennington passes so much. Very funny, spit my coffee on the key board onthat one!
He has turf toe. You hyper extend your big toe once and you feel it for the rest of your life. With the proper shoes and injections, it shouldn't effect his game at all. It must hurt like a bitch afterwards though.
This has been an issue for a while; it was one of the issues that Washington had with him if I remember correctly. Washington wanted him to have surgery and he disagreed.
I thought this had healed, I guess not. Didn't realize it was that serious.` I give him kudos for toughing it out.
I don't understand why they didn't rest all the walking wounded players in the second half. Obviously after Arizona made a comeback you needed the first team in, but why play Coles to start the second half?
Coles toughs it out year after year. The guy always plays hard, whether he had concussion the week before or his toe injury that lingered all year. Coles is one tough SOB.
Severe case of "Turf Toe" Like others have mentioned, it happenned in Washinton. They wanted him to have the surgery, but it was 50/50 that it could fix the problem, or end his career. He decided NO. Main reason why he isn't as fast as he once was (ran a 4.18 @ FSU.... Their fastest time ever......faster than Deion Sanders)
Chemistry? Besides, as many people have mentioned this isn't just a temporary issue with Coles. I'd rather let the first team offense get some gametime, especially considering next week was a bye to recover anyways.
