doesnt scare me a whole lot. we knew theyd have a good running game. nobody should be surprsied. we know chad is efficient when he has a good run game. nobody should be surprised. we know parcells overhauls a d quite quickly. nobody should be surprised. sorry even as i was surprised to watch them beat the chargers, still doesnt scare me. the patriots own the jets, the jets own the phins, and the bills and jets split. thats what im going on cuz thats the proven formula up to this point. i think this makes our next contest with them more competitive but this team does not scare me. id rather have more legitimacy to our schedule and division instead of beating up on the worst team every year. only surprise is theyre being serious with the Arkansas offense. but 49 yards on 11 plays and 2 tds. yesterday, nothing scary theyre effective with it in the red zone. the offense makes 10 people block on any given play. yeah i think its a decent strategy, but all in all i think jets fans are gonna start worrying and whatnot. not me.
I think Miami's success against the teams we lost against shows what a power running game can do for you. Our losses to San Diego and New England were a direct result of not being able to run between the tackles with any success.
I'd like to think we pretty much have Chad's number. Our DEF knows this guy so well it definately gives us an advantage. Now, on the other side of the ball, Favre vs. their DEF isn't much better for them. I say we sweep the Dolphins this season, I don't care who they've beaten.
I guess people have a short term memories. in 2006 we employed the same types of play and caught teams off guard. Miami has seen success in this regard , helping out their play action. It wont last ! Just watch next week when Chad is forced to beat them himself and its a pick-fest.
Yeah, I'd agree with that. I'm hoping we can work on this during the Bye. You can't win games even if you've got a lead if you can't kill the clock by pounding the ball and moving the chains. Maybe with Chatman returning we are working on that. The kid I liked in TC was Caulcrick... 250 lb rookie RB... like to see more of him next camp.
I am not shocked at all. First of all, Parcells being associated with them -- to be was worth 6 wins. (We'll see, I guess). Second, Chad fit perfectly with them. He has two very good running backs to hand to -- and everything can be off the play action which he loves. Good TE.
Everybody was supposed to have Chad's number. Remember when everyone kept saying how he scares no one? The real number we need to have is Ronnie Brown's. If our D can stop their run and force Penny to beat us, that will be the ideal situation.
Somebody needs to mail Ricky Williams some reefers. When he opens the package, just the smell alone will be enough to send him off the wagon.
I still think most teams still do have his number. I'm not at all sorry to see him elsewhere, even Miami. Yes, he does have a better running game there, but he still has to rely on the short dink and dunk... no deep threat at all, so it's questionable how many 1st down conversions he can make and sustain the drives. This was always our problem... 40 plays to get the ball 80 yards down the field, and any one of his bloopers being turned into a deflection or INT in our own territory. I think our current DEF is still going to give Pennington fits... deer-in-the headlights type Chinese Fire Drills on 3rd and 6. Well, that's the key. Find a way to take away their run and now Chad is one-dimensional... the dink and dunk. You're never going to see the Favre-like bomb like we had against Arizona, which is the thing that keeps DEFs guessing. With Chad, that threat is non-existant.
Miami's front 7 on D and o-line look big and strong. They dominated in the trenches the last 2 weeks. That will win a lot of games.
This is where I think people and a couple of these teams are underestimating Pennington as the QB. He's not just on a dink and dunk routine there. He's throwing downfield a lot more, even if it isn't 40-50 yard bombs - he's moving the ball around. And he's throwing deeper outs and no picks in the last two games. I'm not saying he's suddenly a bombs away QB now, but he's playing better than I remember watching him play for us in the last couple of years. I believe their running game helps him be able to do those things though and by stopping that you are right, he becomes less of a factor because we haven't seen him put a game on his own back and win in it in a long time.
all we ask from him as a dolphin is DONT LOSE the game....keep the offense on the field....and make a few tight difficult throws... hes done fine thus far. sometimes however i chug a whole beer before his sideline pass gets to the reciever......i shit my pants thinking its a pick 6 everytime he lays out a feather on a 15 yard out route......worked so far.....so good
I think they only way the Phins came so close was Pennington was a Jet how many weeks before their game? Can't imagine it would be any different than what he practiced against. As for SD, they know Shotty Minor pretty well, which would explain them picking on Favre.
