If the DB coaching is bad why have Revis and now Lowery both stepped in and played well all in the time since we've seen Miller?

Who said the DB coaching was bad? Are you referring to my comments? I never said the db coaching was bad.

I think EM has a problem with the kid--not that he wasn't coached properly.

As a matter of fact, now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure that JM talked to the press about something the week before he was benched. It would take a mind like Cakes to remember this but there was something else going on. He said something that wasn't exactly "listen to the coach and shut up".

I'll try to find the comment.

edit: was Miller busted for dwi or something around that time?

He punched one of Obama's female aides in the mouth at 2am in front of a night club.

Justin's been hurt. While it's disappointing so far to see him not play, he has been hurt. Don't give up all hope.

that must be why everyone hates him, hes no wayne chrebet.

i hope he is hurt, i hope he is getting better.
i hope he succeeds here in ny.
i hope if he doesnt succeed here he is picked up next year and succeeds with them.

all of the negativity that many around here have towards him makes me want him to do well even more than i wanted him to before.

im sure there will be some saying the same things about lowery next year. they are everywhere and we cant get away from them. hating just for the sake of hating a guy who hasnt done terribly.

That incident sealed his fate with EM--but he was in his doghouse before that for speaking to the press, although this was never the public reason for the benching. The public statement from EM was that he wasn't playing good enough. In reality, though he wasn't playing at the highest level, he had a ton of potential. The real reason for his benching was EM's being pissed at him for speaking to the press. The problem is that he wilted in EM's doghouse and became mentally distracted. He is currently a shell of himself from 2006.

We all agree the man is now incapable of playing CB in the NFL so he is of little use to us and therefore should go.

I hope in a new environment he can once again become a solid NFL player but its not going to happen with the Jets.

I'd be happy to forget the behavioral issues if he could put it together on the field. That kind of stuff is internal and should be dealt with by the team, for better or worse. But you have to wonder after the behavioral stuff and his inability to come back and do anything on the field, whether he is worth the risk.

It'd be better than seeing Drew Coleman on the field.

That's like saying you'd rather look at a cat turd than a dog turd.

Do you need stats to show that a player sucked? Miller was not on the field much as a ocrner in '05. He is not even a Lowery, let alone a Revis type of skilled DB. He has excelent speed and thats about where it stops. His over all awareness blows. Add to that his boneheaded penalties and you have a first down waiting to happen for the opposing team.

He was a good special teams player and a shitty corner. Personaly I'd rather have Leon returning kicks and Miller bagging groceries.

Miller was a PI waiting to happen every time the ball was thrown his way. I ain't in a rush to see him come back.

Sorta off topic, but did Derrick Strait ever amount to anything after he left the Jets? I remember there being a love-fest for him over here too, despite the fact he never showed anything to deserve it.

For a guy that specialized in D-backs, Herm didn't leave us with much young talent at the position. I know it wasn't all up to him - but he must have had some input.

While I can't speak for lowery, because I do not recall seeing him play college ball, I did see revis and revis was a better college CB than miller, imo by far. I do not think it is a question of coaching that is the difference, the two CBs that are starting now are just better.

Not just football Smarts, no smarts of any kind. This kid was was projected as a mid to late 1st round pick, and what does he do a week before the draft,, he gets into a verbal argument with a cop and gets locked up. He cost himself over 20 spots in the draft and millions of $$$ for being stupid.

Dont even mention the name Derrick Strait........he played on Carolina last year, I think............not much at all. That was definitely an up & down draft. Vilma was a great 1st pick, the 2nd rounder went to Tennessee for Justin McCariens, 3rd was Strait, 4th was Jerricho Cotchery.

If only 2nd + 3rd amounted to something.

I dont think anyone wants him to do bad. I have'nt paid much attention to him, but I think, when healthy, he will play better and could be a great nickel back. Not bad, atleast useful.
