You do realize that your talking about a top 5 pick that was sold as the next elite Tackle in the league right????
He was also said to need some time to add size and learn the ropes. He's started every game since he's been here and overall has done well. Elite may be on the way but nobody thought he'd be that in his first year or two.
If he has another offseason like he did this year, we could be looking at an elite LT in '09. He's not there but he's progressed quite well this year IMO.
Then watch the damn game for yourself. If you're such an expert on the LT position and are such a strong evaluator of Brick, re-watch the game and give us your play by play analysis. All these bullshit posts of yours do is tell us you don't have the knowledge of the game to make your own evaluation, so you're willing to believe whatever you read. man it must be nice to be able to avoid thinking
You know it's funny how many top 5 picks the Jets get that "Need time to learn the ropes" While other teams look the top of the draft as a spot to try and land "IMPACT PLAYERS" the Jets treat the top 10 picks as a place to get developmental players. Not for nothing but if Jet fans can't see the trend here then they have no reason to bitch about another 6 win season.
I think it depends where you're at as a franchise and what position the guy plays. In that particular draft our O-line needed total rebuilding, Brick was 20 years old, Bush, Williams and Young were already gone. It's not like he's a washout, he's playing and coming along, I don't think anyone expected him to be a dominant LT at 20 years old, he's about what we thought he'd be so far, still with tremendous upside. You don't generally get immediate impact from an O-lineman if the rest of your team is in need of help.
Broadway Brett - outstanding post It's nice to base opinions on good data and not just people talking out of their ***. DBrick did look good last weekend, especially in his run blocking. The kid is still young and I am hopeful he will continue to develop into a top LT.
It's a realistic view I understand, and I'm sure need played role in the selection at the time, yet it seems that very few of these players the Jets have taken high have have had the impact most would expect. I mean lets be honest no matter what many Jet fans say now, Gholston wasn't being talked about at the draft as "in couple years he'll be great". He was projected as an impact rookie of the year type player from the get go. I just feel that when your drafting that high and paying that much $$$, you should be getting more.
Gholston is a different story, I expected he'd do something by now. Usually if a guy is that good they show you something relatively soon. We knew Revis was good the first time we saw him, not to say you don't improve but you show something. It's not like Gholston was hurt or missed that much time, either. He missed OTAs and a few weeks of camp, so did Revis last year and he started from Week 1.
i will keep asking you this until i am responded too. was your computer broken last week? did you have a vacation? internet stopped working? your a horrible troll grow a pair. moving on. how champ can that stupid article about brick is better than BB going through each play and posting how did is asinine. come on champ its not like he is freaking editing out the plays where brick gets beat, he is telling the whole truth by watching each play and focusing on brick and than telling us what he saw. just because there is little to complain about as far is brick goes doesn't mean you discredit the work that BB does each week breaking down the performance. and champ i think you might have missed the memo but everyone is supposed to be complaining about woody this week as far as the o-line goes.
yeah i lucked out, i got to catch some of the game this week. really hard to talk football over here when everyone thinks im talking about soccer.
Sorry Champ but to suggest that there are no JETS fans who can evaluate a player while being impartial is an err on your part. I consider myself, and there are actually quite a few posters on here who tend to call it the way they see it. Unfortunately, many of those "opinions" get hammered by those with green glasses or the JPH type (Jets Player H8r). And just for the record, I would take a fans perspective more seriously than a writer who is getting PAID to create nonsense in order to sell papers. Now THAT is impartial. Oh hells yeah. Can't disagree while having the IronMan @ QB. I agree. I stated before that he was inconsistent. Excellent point on the endurance. He gained weight this year so that may be a contributing factor.
Hopefully you are correct that in 09 he becomes a dominating LT not just another average Joe the LT in the NFL
I think we all hope so Champ. There's no denying he made significant progress from last year to this year. He looks bigger and stronger after his offseason that coach praised. Another year with more bulk, strength and experience and I don't think it's outlandish to think he could be dominant.
