Jets ILB David Harris (hip, groin) is not expected to play in Week 9. Harris' injury is considered a week-to-week situation, meaning he could miss multiple games. David Bowens, a converted outside linebacker, will start against the Bills.
Bowens better be the designated blitzing LB or he's going to get TOASTED in coverage like he did against the Chiefs, only worse.
All those people who kept saying that Harris is trash will see what this defense looks like without him and it wont be pretty. I really hope they figure out something creative to cover the hole, but knowing Sutton we wont and they'll massively exploit Harris being out.
What idiot said Harris is trash? Anyway, this might just be a good time to throw Gholston to the wolves and see if he survives. What are they waiting for at this point? Sure, someone will be out of position in the LB corps, but at least then there'd be an excuse for mistakes, giving Gholston a free pass while on-the-job training.
Honestly though, it makes sense shuffling the Linebackers somehow where Gholston,Barton,Thomas,Pace are on the field at the same time. Bowens is not a linebacker to me, too big.
Nope. Go 4/3 and blitz every down in the first half. They will spend all wweek preparing to exploit a weak 3-4. Come out at half time in the 3/4
Unfortunately, with Vilma gone, I'm not sure how much speed we have on the inside. Harris is a big run stopper, but even when he's been in we've had difficulty stopping the pass. I figure Barton's as good as anything... I like the idea of playing the 4-3, then the 3-4, if nothing else just to mess with them. If we stay 3-4 I wouldn't mind the idea of trying Pace inside, playing Gholston some more and I think Bowens would be better rushing on the outside than the inside as he's more a DE than LB'er, at least that's my opinion.
