This is an interesting topic to me since wide receiver is a big need, do you want the top receiver to be

a big 6'4+ type target who is more of posession guy and a big red zone target

    or

a burner- a guy who can go the distance almost all the time

odds are its going to be really tough to get a guy who do a decent amount of both, i guess what i'm saying is what direction do you lean in?

Depends on who will be our QB in 2010 and how Clowney works out in '09. My guess is we will be looking at a ball control offense, so most likely some type of WC, short passing O. That would favor the tall over the speed. We definitely need a speed guy in there to stretch the field, but if Clowney can score a few burner TDs per season, it should be enough to keep opposing Ds honest. So tall guy FTW.

Definitely speed. It showed we couldn't get the ball deep.

I'd go with speed...we haven't had a deep threat in quite some time.

speed trumps all. You can't teach it..and it's tough to defend.

We need a big receiver. Hopefully he will have speed too.

Im hoping for Jeremy Maclin in the draft. He's listed at like 6'2 I think, but hes quick as hell. Could take some developing as a route runner, Mizzou isn't much of a down-field passing team, but athletically this kid's the real deal.

We don't have any big receivers. We have Washington and Clowney as possible game breakers, although Leon's obviously not a WR. Obviously a combo of both would be great, but I think having a guy who can go up and snag the ball with some height is more of a need.

On that note, I wouldn't mind if we did a trade down in round 1 or a trade up in round 2 for Heyward-Bey out of Maryland. He was vastly underutilized there, but I think he's got the highest potential of all the WRs in the draft this year. Size and speed.

EDIT: Quack knows what I'm talking about

Our TE is the Red Zone Threat, so speed is what we need. Look what Santana Moss has done with the Redskins. We never had the QB who could get the ball to him, and the Jets weren't using screens like the league is using them now. Maclin's height is perfect, so I have no problem with him as the pick if available.

I want both. One of each!

Right now the Jets wideouts are small and slow. No good.

we already have a number of tight ends.

i want a great receiver. a guy who runs great routes and doesnt drop balls. a guy who blocks on every play and runs his routes hard even though he is nothing more than a decoy. a guy who can get off the line of scrimmage without being pushed completely out of his route.

i dont give a shit if he is 6'4 or is 5-11 and can jump. it really doesnt matter.
