My thought is that he may get the franchise tag thrown on him by the Jets, it would cost them about 6mil, I believe, and then if another team wanted him the Jets would get a 1st round draft pick... I don't think that this is too bad of an idea, because maybe after a Jets training camp and a full season with them we would have a better idea of what he is worth in a contract situation and on the same note, if he drop a ton of balls again next year we just let him go... I think this leaves the options open for the Jets

yeah anyone who wants him gone after this season is insane. how did any of the dynamic qb/wr combos in the league get so good? they worked together for hours and hours for months and months in the offseason and training camp to get on the same page about every small detail.

chemistry like that can't happen during the season because there is too much preparation for the upcoming game to really work on building on their chemistry together. all the great duo's can change routes with a simple nod of the head when they both see something in the defense they want to exploit. there is no way that sanchez and edwards are near that level right now.

they both have the talent and both appear to have the desire to be like a manning and wayne, or brady and moss. give them this offseason and we could be looking at something very special being born. the most important thing to think about is that we are currently one game away from the superbowl and we still have parts of the team in the infancy of development. we need to keep as much of this roster together as we can no matter how this season ends and let them continue what they have started this season.

Agreed...and why start over with anotherWR? Mark and Braylon seem like they are on the same page, why set that back? An off season with Cotch, Edwards and Keller working together, should do wonders for Mark and the rest of our offense.

I agree. I looked up stats on the Washington Post Sports section:

BE is not in the top 30 for "Dropped passes"
BE is not in the top 20 for "Passes not caught"
Some of the names who were might suprise you...

    On the other hand...
    BE is 7th in the top 20 for "1st Down catches - 3rd and >7 "
    BE is 12th in the top 20 for "1st Down catches - 3rd and <3 "
    BE is 3rd in the top 20 for "Percent 1st Downs/Reception "

Interesting that we seem to go to him primarily in critical situations, certainly more so than in less critical situations......and he comes through in those situations obviously. Obviously I saw the drops as clearly as anyone else here, but I think too much is made of it, and I think it will change next year.

    Braylon Edwards Points

    a) Has not had an offseason with QB and receiving corp

    b) Jets saved him from disaster

    c) Blocks like a TE

    d) Drops are magnified cause we pass so little.

There was a game we won a bit earlier - might have been Carolina - where Braylon had a block for TJ up the left side and he pushed the DLineman back like 10 or 15 yards off the line of scrimmage. You couldn't see the whole body of work on the initial play but caught the 1st part - then the rest of the block on the replay. I don't think I have ever seen a WR block like he does. Reminds me of A.Becht's blocking ability.

And he is the perfect complementary player for Cotchery too. Braylon and Jerricho make a hell of a WR tandem. Now, if Jets can get a good slot receiver, then watch out. This team can run AND pass. A true nightmare for any opposing defense.

His drops are magnified because the only balls he really does drop are the bombs from Sanchez, when he's wide open

We should take a page from the Dolphins/Pats draft strategy on "Drafting shifty slot receivers."

Probably better than drafting shitty slot receivers.

I had some boxers once that were 100% Braylon, and it was great as they made my balls drop.

Good Point it seems like he only drops the deep passes that were sure scoring plays. He has pretty good hands otherwise. He blocks great for a wide out, very necessary for a running team. He does not have a problem with that. We need to retain his services.....
