I can't do a poll so maybe someone else will regarding the possible schedule change. I ote for 18/2 as a season ticket holder, one addtional home game at no extra cost

Keep things the way there are

    18 regular/2 pre seasons

    16 regular/ 2 pre seasons

I'm with you. One reason I may give up my seasons is I'm tired of getting soaked for two preseason games and the parking at full price when you know the real players don't play and the game doesn't count. At the new prices it's harder to ignore than in the past. If they reduce it to one game I can live with that easier.

I don't like how it will affect NFL records, but besides that I am for it.

^ the one additional game with no extra cost is not gonna happen. one of the motivating factors of it all is money.

while i hate the preseason, i think it's a necessary evil. Can a coach really evaluate ALL new talent in 2 games?

does 18 games really improve the nfl "experience" and the quality of play? does that mean Curtis Painter plays the last 4 games for the Colts instead of 2?

I guess I kinda prefer to keep it how it is, but I'm still up in the air about it all

I agree with pretty much everything written here.

Preseason sucks, but it's a necessary evil. Coaches need to see everyone play so they can make informed roster decisions, and offenses need time to get their act together. Cut two preseason games, and you'll probably see shitty football for at least the first week of the regular season.

As you mentioned, an 18 game schedule will just increase the amount of time that good teams can coast for at the end of the season. Nobody really wants to see that. This will be augmented by the fact that a ton of players play through relatively major injuries to get through the season. Asking them to do that for 2 more weeks is actually asking quite a bit.

I would like to keep it the way it is even tho it sucks losing all that money re-selling my pre-season tickets.

I'd say hell to the naw to the 18 games + 2 pre-season.

And the last option is interesting. But I agree with 34miami23 in that, pre-season is a necessary evil to evaluate talent and work the kinks out. I don't really care about records since everything will be sorted out as the Pre-18 game era and Post-18 game era in the HOF. So I say keep it the way it is.

Anyone who doesn't want the longest NFL schedule possible is just stupid.

17 games (1 played at a neutral location) with 2 bye weeks. 2 preseason games.

If the preseason is cut down, you'll likely see more dual team practices (like Tennessee and Arizona did) and scrimmages. I'd guess coaches use a structure for the remaining games like you currently see in games 3 and 4.

Keep it the way it is or just cut the preseason down to two. For all those that are happy because they get more band for their buck, you have to know that the teams will up the season price even more with the excuse that you get another regular season game.

They will reduce it to one preseaosn game and raise tickets prices b/c now we'll get 9 regular season games. This 18 game sched idea is an awful one, games will be played(non SB) into February, players will have shorter careers, I despise the idea of this move and it sickens me that the NFL is using the fans to try to get it done saying they are doing it for us.

I'm sure fans had the same reaction when they switched from a 14 game format to 16 games.

It's different now, the game is much more violent w/ bigger, stronger, faster athletes. It's also a year round job for these guys, in the old days they didn't have a ton of minicamps and all the offseason work. We will see guys careers cut short b/c of this.

I agree. We're going to start seeing 5 year RB careers become average.
