Living here in Eagleland, I'm once again doublly green with envy, as Philly's Phans are enjoying yet another deep sojourn into the postseason.

Sure, they've never won it, and if they don't again this year, they'll bitch, but right now they're in cheesesteak heaven soaking up the rarified air of the elite 8 and divisional weekend. I guess it's hitting me more this year because we were in it just last week, and now not, and because the Eagles looked for so long that they'd be out of it completely.

To be sure, this has been the best Jets era for playoffs ever, with 4 trips in the last 6 years, but it still stinks.

The way the team was manhandled on Sunday dulled the pain a little (would not've survived a loss like the Cowboys had), but the empty, depressing feeling has finally surfaced in earnest this evening. Cold, dull, deep.

I remember how the rest of the world seemed incredulous over the way the Bills and the fans celebrated their 4 years of Super Bowl losses. We didn't understand what they were so proud of...but now, I'm starting to get it.

There's something special about taking those deep trips into the playoffs year after year. To be playing and enjoying the national press coverage 3, 4 and 5 weeks past the end of the regular season. To be one of only 2 teams standing after 30 have met their maker.

My hope tonight on this, the most hallowed and haunted of days in Jets history, is still that they will go to and win the Super Bowl.

But, after all these years, I'm starting to see the beauty in teams that are consistently excellent and take their teams on deep runs, even if they just miss.

Maybe Mang can deliver on both counts...Amen. Happy Anniversary, Joe.

Wow it really is 38 years since we last won the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. Amazing how fast time flies. I was in your neck of the woods last week enjoying my newest grandchild. It was disheartening listening to them extolling the Eagles onto victory & especially hard after they whipped the NYGs. Oh well as some of said at least I was lucky enough to see them win the big one in 69 & experience the glow of the ultimate victory.

Sorry I do not agree with your comments concerning just being good. I am sure after listening to Philly TV if they lose tomorrow nite the feelings will be the same for them as they were for us when we went down to the Pats last Sunday. I will take the Lions prez Millan approach when he said what is the difference if you win 2 or 14 & then do not win the SB. Since the season is played to win the SB anything less means the season was as unsuccessful as say the Oakland Raiders since we to are sitting on the sidelines just like them now watching the POs on TV

I blame Woody for everything! he's the worst owner ever, how dare he try to make his team better, how dare he spend money to improve facilities and give his GMs money to spend1 He is terrible! he should have sat back and did nothing like leon did for decades.

Sorry if you disagree BUT anyone who says that anything less then winning a SB is a unsuccessful season is really a true FB man since that is what the regular season is played for

"Matt Millen, true football man." After all, he will accept nothing less than a Super Bowl victory before he'll stoop to considering himself a success.

So by your account, if you do not win a championship, you suck. I guess Dan Marino and Ted Williams are a joke.

Well done junc, you lured rajensen back. I wonder what it will take to get him in some of the Herm threads. Shouldn't you have some new links and/or material by now though sir?

Hahahahaha... that is the best you can do now, huh? Having some trouble bringing anything down on Mangini these days, now you have to shift the focus. Do us a favor, take your worthless raggamuffin ass back to KC. :rofl2:
