If you think about it - we really don't have a big decision to make. The way I see it there are 4 major talents in the draft and we have the fourth pick. Whoever is left from Bush, Leinart, Young, and Cutler. I don't like taking o-lineman this high in the draft... you don't get many chances to pick top five so you should go with someone who has a chance to save your franchise - even if it is a risk.
Cutler is much more of a risk than taking a Lineman. The way i figure it to be is the big prospects in this draft are Bush, Leinhart, Young, D Brick, Hawk, Super Mario, Veron Davis. Anyone one of these guys except for Young would be a great pick up for the Jets at #4
We are going to take Mario Williams with the 4th pick. After Reggie Bush he's the most talented player in the draft. He'll be causing havok for the oppositions qb's for years to come.
Cutlers has more or as much potential of both those guys. infact many scout think cutler is gonna be the best qb outta those the group.
A franchise LT can save your franchise as well. He can made a mediocre QB seem great, and take a great QB to the SB. A franchise LT can open up the passing game and greatly increases the longevity of a QB. I would not write off Brick that fast, that is if you think he is a franchise LT, which I do.
The jet FO would lOVE super mario for the same reason they HAVE to take D Brick. Do we draft to kill the other team's QB, or do we draft to protect our own? You make the call: Knocking out the other team's QB that we will only see once or twice a year, versus protecting our own QB that we rely on game in and game out for years to come. There's no choice to make. The FO has made it clear. It's CP with the best protection we can give him in '06 (ie, D Brick). If that blows up we draft a QB with our number one over all pick in '07 and kick Penny to the curb.
either way we cant go wrong picking this high in the draft. theres too much talent at that pick that we really cant screw this draft up.
Not sure how Mario would fit in in a 3-4, they play a 4-3 at NC State right? Do you think he has DE in a 3-4 potential? He is an animal, but he is not all that bulky. He is more of an Abe then an Ellis.
Orlando Pace with Kurt Warner. I mean, he is just one piece of the puzzle, but Warner had ALL day to throw with the "Greatest Show On Turf."
the upside on cutler could have him being talked about the best player from this years draft. cutler's available at #4, TAKE HIM....
But with 6-7 and 293 pounds he is hard to push around, so he will play well against the run. Even though he is more of a pass rusher, he will improve the Jets defense also by run stopping.
You have to have a complete well-coached O-Line. If you just have a great LT, but your other Linemen are bad, your QB will be crushed all day long. That was the reason for the Rams success, not just Orlando Pace.
We don't need defense. Our offense was so pathetic last year. I think thats what we should be focusing on.
ugh..god the friggin media and there hype, cutler isn't a top 10 person, though he very well could find his ass drafted there the top draft prospects based on talent and resume are bush, leinhart, ferguson, williams, and hawk....you could throw vernon davis close in there along with young
