The character attacks come from four things:

    1) Going public with his dislike and distrust of the Falcons coaching staff, a serious NFL taboo. I think it was a brave move from a team leader- rocking Vince Lombardi's boat and rocking Bobby Petrino's boat are two different things.

    2) Supporting Michael Vick. Incredibly unpopular move, after the demonization of Vick for what I'm guessing 20% of NFL players have done. Would his character have appeared better if he'd thrown his friend, teammate and leader under the bus when it was convenient to do so?

    3) The Steve Smith incident. You try covering that guy. He's like Yoda in Attack of the Clones.

    4) Being a huge trash-talker. This is the only point that has merit- this man does talk. But I think it's a positional thing. WR's and CB's are out there on an island, all alone. When Chad Johnson or Steve Smith or T.O. are standing across from you, a strong narcissistic complex becomes a useful tool. If you can get in that receiver's head for just a minute, maybe that's the difference between a catch and a drop. Personally, I love trash-talkers, and I've always suspected that individuals who demonize Hall's "showboating" while idolizing Tom Brady's "competitive fire" are just a little racist.

    Nice summarization.

Theres alot of ignorance when it comes Hall amongst non-Falcons fans it seems. Most people got used to the idea of calling him overrated and were all too happy to add "bad character" to his list of flaws.

But the guy has had two very good seasons in the past 3, and last year played like a top corner on a horrible team.

i think both Samuel and Hall are similar players but why would you want to trade players and or picks for a guy when you could essentially get the same guy in FA, we all know Hall will command the same money Samuel gets in fa

I'm against signing Samuel for salary cap reasons. I think it'd be even MORE foolish to trade picks AND waste cap space on a position that we don't NEED.

Draft a corner in the mid-rounds, and spend the money on OL, DL, and LB... the things we NEED.

No doubt we'll sign Randall Gay and be told he's ace.

    Hall >>> Samuels

Appearantly the Giants might give up their first for him. The article in the Star Ledger states they won't pursue Samuels because they believe he's a product of the Pats defensive system. Ouch...that knock on Samuels just keeps spreading...

if the giants trade the 31st overall pick and get d hall i think i would cry, that would be highway robbery, a bonefied shutdown corner that in his 3rd year is just as old as some rookies, i thought that the falcons were stupid but not this bad, give him his money he IS a shutdown corner, they dont come around all that often.
