I think we should try to work Brad Smith into the back field more. He has some pretty damn good running skills.
Blaylock is too much of a dancer to be a feature back. I have a feeling that Washington is too, even though he didn't get touches today. I think Barlow and Houston should be in on first and second down, with Blaylock and Leon Washington being the long yardage and 3rd down backs. It's almost like Mangini is against Houston for some odd reason. He's a good downhill runner who can hit the hole and pickup 2-3 more yards then he should.
Letting Lamont Jordan go to sign Abraham for only 1 more year was another boner by Bradway & Herm. Drafting Robertson in response to the Redskins poaching our talent, Nugent with a #2, poor #1's, trading a #1 for Jolley -- and then letting Lamont go when we knew Curtis only had 1-2 more years anyway.
What's done is done. Can we please move past this? Did the past regime f*ck up? Yes...repeatedly. That has nothing to do with today's situation. Let's look forward...not back.
1) You can not franchise a backup running back. Get real 2) We did not trade a #1 for Jolley. We traded down. There is a HUGE difference.
For the price LaMont was asking, it wasn't worth it, because like Jetsin2004 said, he's vastly overated.
If RB is our teams only really gaping hole by season's end..we should all be THRILLED. The OL, passing game, and interior run D were all quite impressive today. If our biggest hole is at RB...the stable of RB's coming out for the next draft will grant us an RB of the future that will make us all forget Lamount jordan for good!
Man, I can see it... year 2010 and new season opens up and we find a "Who Misses Lamont" thread at the top of the forum. Miss him all you want. He ain't coming back.
Barlow looked good. He's fast and he's got some power. I don't like Blaylock. He looks small, and he can't get by anybody. I'm hoping Houston gets his chance to show us his stuff. Houston and Barlow may be a great combination. Blaylock should be inactive next week.
