I'll give you Favre didn't play well the last two weeks, but at least he PLAYS HARD. Coles has completely lost all my respect. He doesn't even look like he wants to catch the ball. It is just plain pathetic. The interception this week is just one (and the worse) example. Cotch at least seems to play hard and try his best. Coles just seems to be sulking around the field. What an asshat.
Our guys looked better earlier in the year. Now they play us only for the short pass and run, because our guys cannot get deep and when they do they never fight for the ball or have the size to jump for it. Coles is a slow short possesion receiver who is also a malcontent. Cotchery plays hard but is too much like Coles. If for some reason Farve comes back next year they better pick him up somebody like Chad Johnson who can make big plays.
Last year it was Pennington, this year it is Favre or the WRs, could it be the offensive design and crappy play calling? Schotty is the problem. His route combination sucks, his running game and passing game do not compliment each other. There is no rythm to his play calling and you can see it on the offensive players. To be honest with you, I think Favre is tired of fighting the conservative, run the play clock down to 3 seconds crappy offense Schotty runs. Just like what happened to Chad last year. He ran your guy out of town and will send Favre to the house at the end of the year.
Coles made some good points when he was ranting about brett favre. he said the offense is no longer about the wrs, its about brett. I didnt know what he meant until the 9ers game. Coles and Cotchery used to be able to run routes, get open on five step drops, use double moves. This is what Bruce did and thats why he was wide open the entire game. However, our offense no longer has that facet. Weve changed completely over to timing routes, little 3 step drops and a throw. If thats not there then we dump it off. This strategy did work. Against the Titans it was genius. But now every defense knows what were doing. They know all we do are timing routes, and they have it covered, they play our receivers tighter. We need to give the opportunity to our WRs to make plays with their routes.
I assume that they are not getting open because Favre never throws to them. And when he does, the DBs are step for step......almost every time the Pats send Moss deep, he has a step on the corner and makes the catch if them ball is thrown well....not us. I blame the coaches as much as I blame the WRs though, because they need to find ways to get man coverage all the way down the field, and find ways to put multiple WRs in the deep and middle zones, etc..... Our passing game has Brett Favre, but it lacks creativity to the point where conventional coverages can handle it....
Do the Favre fans say it's not Favre's fault at all? No. but u like to assume that anyone who defends favre at all can't give him any blame
Coles was joking. if he wasn't that he's an idiot. how can it be all about the QB when the QB has to depend on his WR's to do anything
Coles and Cotchery combined for 2 catches for 15 yards. The reason? The 9ers took away the timing passes and Favre went to his checkdowns. Favre completeed 20 passes, 12 of which went to RBs or TEs after the number 1 and sometimes 2 option was taken away. The offense is too predictable. We have to start faking the little slants and other timing routes, and turn them into a double move.
Last year it was the OL that didn't protect the QB or open holes for the RBs. Montana in hi sprime couldn't have succeeded in that O.
I must say that this is the most cogent explanation I've heard thus far regarding our struggles in the passing game. It really makes sense on a bunch of levels. I hope the CS has the sense to make the necessary adjustments.
And Coles in particular had a concussion, our more accurately had his most recent concussion. I don't have access to videos of the opponents' defenses, but what we have been able to see suggests that Cotch has been getting more coverage, probably because the D's can sag off Coles a bit. That would explain the schemes seen, which in specific really came out of the Denver game, and seems like SF picked up on. The Tits were arrogant, thinking they were so good they needn't alter their schemes. I dunno, that sounds like a plausible explanation. And ftr I know there might be some other candidates, but despite my having junc on ignore, I see from quotes of his posted by other posters that he is definitely in the running for worst poster ever. His Chadloving Favre hatred is over the top.
