Throwing Coughlin under the bus post-retirement. Stop whining. If you didn't want to retire, then you'd still be playing. If you didn't like Coughlin, then you didn't have to sign an extension to remain with the Giants and keep playing for him. Apparently "graceful exit" is not part of this man's vocabulary. "Coach Coughlin is very hard-nosed, and I didn't get a lot of time off, couldn't sit down and rest myself, and so it was a constant grind -- a physical grind on me that started to take its toll," Barber said. "The grind took its toll on me and really forced me to start thinking about what I wanted to do next. And that's not a bad thing. That's a good thing, for me at least. Maybe not for the Giants, because they lose one of their great players, but for me, it is." Ever hear Curtis Martin complain like this? -X-
Thank you, I was thinking about making a similar post. I liked Tiki ALOT before this past season. Then he just got fuckin WHIIIIIINY. Not the NY media helps. Tiki also says Coughlin adjusted little by little, even though he has room to grow there. He also obviously respects Coughlin. It's the media that chooses to spin this the way that they spin this. They are the ones who love viciously attacking Coughlin, and have casually ignored the monster injuries the Giants faced on both sides of the ball this year and put ALL the blame on Eli and Coughlin. The NY media is just disgusting really.
So that's how he thanks the man who taught him how to hold on to the ball and made him a top 5 running back..........nice
he's a dick, flat out...go work in tv, your teammates don't want you if you don't want to play...i hope you fail in tv too you rat bastard
Bingo. This is exactly where I stand too. I've always admired the way Tiki played on the field, but he came off like a huge malcontent this year with a tremendous ego. He claimed and embraced all of the compliments, but never gave the proper credit to the person responsible for it near the end of his career. Basically, he's a jerk.
Tiki and Strahan have always been loud mouthed scumbags but they were "media friendly" so they got passes. We saw what happened with ole gap tooth this year when he blew up at a reporter. Tiki is going to become "one of them" so we'll continue to be force fed this idea that he's a great guy.
"That's a good thing, for me at least. Maybe not for the Giants, because they lose one of their great players, but for me, it is." Imagine if TO said something like this - everyone would be falling all over themselves about what a horrible person he is. I never paid enough attention to Barber to develop any particular feelings about him one way or the other before this year, but anyone who doesn't think that he has shown a massive ego and lousy attitude all year just hasn't been paying attention. I am not at all convinced that he is going to "make it" in TV - I think phoniness comes through onscreen.
Seems like Tiki has had an agenda against Coughlin for a long time. And I doubt it has anything to do with how hard Tiki was worked.
God, I really wish Tiki would just shut the fuck up already. Good thing I don't watch NFL pregame shows or network morning programs, so I can at least attempt to remember him only as the best running back I've ever seen play.
The best part is how he says he feels sorry for the Giants for losing a great player. Can you imagine how much of a tool this guy must be to deal with in real life? Thankfully I don't watch the kind of crap he's going to be on, so as long as his overrated ass stays retired I will no longer be subjected to his bullshit.
