Ok first, this is just an opinion and something to generate some discussion so before you guys start bashing, take that into account: I seriously and honestly believe that Chad Pennington will have a huge year this year. Everyone is counting him out and I think he will come up big. Probably the most important reason: he is healthy. Like Rich Cimini said, before he got hurt, he was the most accurate passer in the league and saved our season. Then he got hurt, and then got rushed back which hurt him even more. Now, the doctor's went in there, fixed everything and he had more than enough time to heal. This is the guy who threw touchdowns to Randy Moss in college. He was good, got hurt and it never got better. He is back to full strength now and just watch him light it up.
You're thinking with your heart and not your head. He is healthy only in a relative way, in that he is able to suit up again. The question right now isn't is Chad healthy, but will he ever be. I love Chad and the fire he brought to this team, and hope he'll be able to do so again. But it's impossible to ignore the steady year-by-year deterioration of his physical state, his arm strength, and even his ability to handle pressure in the pocket. Proof to the contrary will require more than a clean bill of health from a team doctor, IMO.
I have this strange, disturbing, yet confident feeling that Bryan Thomas is going to have a good season. I don't know why, but I can't shake it.
i dont understand whats goin on with our lb situation barton is playin olb and hobson is out or what cuz apparently schlegel is a golden child who makes mangini and company jizz there pants =D sorry if that was to graphic i apolagize in advance
I don't think Chad will ever be pro-bowl good anymore, but I think he'll return for the whole season and have a good 90+ QB rating.
Not really that huge of a reach. If there's one thing that's been proven fairly easy to do in the NFL is adjust to being a 34 OLB. Guys like DeMarcus Ware are really only good at one thing coming out of school, yet they're very effective. Thomas right now doesn't have the fanfare of a highly touted rookie, but he's got similar skills. Plus, he looked fairly decent against the run in what time he played there last year. I think if they let Thomas play his game and use his talents (which Mangini should) in that Willie McGinest type role, he can have a very good year.
wow...i feel exactly the same and i don't know exactly why.......CP on the other hand I am not expecting that much, but i do have the faith that he can come back and be productive
i am thinking with my heart and my head......i think that with everything being fixed and a long time to recover, he could be backto his old self
You don't know how bad I hope your right. Do I think we are gonna have a big year? Most definitely! With chad at the helm? Not sure, but it would be great if he could make a comeback! 13-3 in 06, whether it be ramsey, chad, or clemens, one of them will start and one will breakout to lead this team to one huge season.
If Ramsey starts I see 5-11 at best. If Chad at best starts I see 8-8 at best. If Clemens starts I see 6-10 at best, hes a rookie. Face it we have a big problem at quarterback now, I like Clemens down the road but hes not ready this year and he needs to break in.
he is not at full strength yet and may never be again, but he is in my prayers every night......til the New York Jets Win the Super Bowl Again ......AMEN!!!!!!!
This whole team needs to step up. We have a lot of talent in a lot of areas but we just haven't seen anything work it self out that way. Forget how healthy the reports say our players are or who did what in camp. We have the players. What we needed was the coaches. BP and BB mentality types. Hope we have that in EM and staff because that is what is going to flip the switches in these guys heads. Not ESPN articles or Dr. reports.
