Just wondering if anyone has been able to find this rumor on the internet? I have been searching for awhile now and haven't found any mention of it.
Forget it, it's not worth arguing about. You didn't understand the point, so I am not going to keep working on the carpal tunnel. Anyway, it's a bad deal on our end.
We better hop on this asap.#4 and #9 would get us a QB,OT or RB or trade both for a slew of picks and address all our needs in the draft. QB,OL,RB,DT,WR,CB these are the main needs right now in this draft. We can't lose either way.
No way! We're going to trade Abe, this would be far and away the best we could get for him. Also you're almost at post 1,000.
<Mar. 4> With Abraham's days clearly numbered in New York, the Falcons could be a potential suitor, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. As expected, the Falcons released veteran defensive end Brady Smith on Friday. However, Atlanta's prospects of acquiring Abraham rest heavily on a new labor deal, which would provide them the salary-cap space to award the type of big-dollar contract Abraham seeks. The disgruntled defensive end has expressed his desire to leave New York, after being designated the team's franchise player for the second consecutive year, and his agent, Tony Ragone, has already begun exploring trade options. "We're exploring other possibilities along with the Jets," Agnone said. "We feel at this point probably that John will not be back in New York." Agnone said the fact-finding hasn't gotten to the stage where they are talking long-term contract with another suitor, but Abraham's other agent, Rich Rosa claims four or five teams have shown serious interest. Denver has been mentioned as a possibility. The Broncos are looking to replace released DE Trevor Pryce, but it's doubtful the team will be able to accommodate Abraham's $8.33 million salary without making another round of cost-cutting moves. Other possibilities include the Redskins and Lions, where Abraham could be reunited with coordinator Donnie Henderson.
!!! It's fairly obvious how great of a deal this would be for us. But I can't see Millen being this stupid.
If anyone's registered at JetsInsider or another Jets board they should go there to see if there's anyone else saying this, because at least one more Jet fan in the world would've had to have seen this if it was true.
Post 1K, yippie-dee-doo. Thanks PPP10. Anyway, no, it isn't a good deal. Why would we want to give up a 3rd round pick? You guys are just thinking in terms of wanting to be rid of the guy. You aren't thinking about the ability he brings to the table. He is a hot commodity, and as you can see, although some teams that want him can't afford him, he is wanted by at least a half dozen teams. Guess there is more value to him than most of you want to give him. Yes, chances are he is going to be traded. He opened his mouth, and inserted his foot. The thing is, we aren't dealing with a Bradway front office. I don't believe Tanny is going to be crazy enough to trade away a star player, and a fairly high pick for a pick that simply forces us to sign two unproven kids to outrageous contracts before they have played an NFL down. (Can anyone say DRob?) Like I said, Abe and the #4 for Detroit's #9 and next year's first rounder, and it's a deal. Otherwise, we are getting ripped off. Another thing to keep in mind. Abe's agents have been saying they are "pretty sure" John will not be a member of the Jets any longer. There is no reason not to believe there is still a chance a deal can be worked out where Abe feels he is fairly compensated. Notice, they haven't made the sign-and-trade happen before 3 separate CBA deadlines. Maybe they are waiting it out to see if it will be financially accessable to retain him. I know a lot of you guys are sour on him, but you may have to resign yourselves to watching him chasing QBs from our line again next year.
