Per everyone on Twitter. Chris Harris takes over, with help from Aaron Glenn on play calling.

there’s no way in hell you can preach accountability and not make this move. Fully expected it at the end of the season but seeing it happen now is a huge sigh of relief. Chris Harris has gotten some praise in the past and our corners have played well… cautiously optimistic but thrilled with the move itself.

Thank God, he had to do something to keep the torches and pitch forks at bay.

Honestly, I’m surprised he did this now. Wilks was Glenn’s first lifeline. After he fires Engstrand next season he’ll be out of lifelines and it’ll be Glenn next.

That was my reaction too. Good job by Glenn.

Lawrence had at least 1 turnover in 8/13 games coming into yesterday. He’s thrown for over 250 4/13 times. He LIT the Jets up.

    That was a fireable offense.

After one season I have 0 concerns about accountability. Which I guess is a step up from the last few years. Now we just need to get the decisions right in the first place.

Damned I called it on my anger thread. About time. Good for AG. Now is time to find a real DC. Any. thoughts out there by the experts?

Jim Leonhard. Former Jet, current pass game coordinator in Denver who has one of the best defenses in the league. No brainer IMO.

That being said Chris Harris has three weeks to show something. He’s been a name tossed around for the last year or so as a guy with a big future.

You ain't the only one! Praise the Maker Glenn came to his senses and fired Wilks before HE got fired. First positive thing Glenn has done this year..

Nice this is the best news since they released Gipson, and got 2 1sts for a guy who can't tackle or catch the ball. Now Glenn has no excuses if the defense still sucks and plays uninspired football he is just a bad coach.

Good to see AG walk the walk on accountability. That performance yesterday was beyond disgraceful. Combine that with all the other defensive issues, including the prior Miami game, and this had to happen. I never thought he'd do it now but it's a positive sign that he did.

Yes Glenn came to his senses on Fields and Wilks, but both way too late.

And I’m not absolving him of it really because both of those guys were his call to begin with, so he bears the full brunt of their epic suckiness

But honestly I’m a bit surprised…when it was announced I thought the Wilks hire was a decent choice as he’s had good defenses in the past, he just failed as an HC but I thought that’s fine, there are plenty of guys like that who are good coordinators but not good HCs.

But for whatever reason, it didn’t work here. This defense sucked balls even before we got rid of Sauce and Q…so that’s no excuse. The lack of takeaways is astonishing and is setting NFL historic records, so it’s not just Jets fan overreacting.

But yes I’m glad this happened finally, just like I was glad we finally benched Fields.

I STILL put it all on Glenn though…as the HC, it’s HIS show regardless, but even more so when both guys were his handpicked choices.

Interesting point. Maybe the seat was getting hot and he had to sacrifice Wilks now or both of them could possibly be gone in January? Now he can concede less than 48 points and claim improvement.

Glenn was just defending Wilks yesterday and sticking up for him, so I am sure this came from Woody/Moogey, This was also the downfall of Saleh to, he came to his senses to late on Zack Wilson and Hackett and when he did it was to late and led to his demise, hopefully Glenn is not a clueless idiot that everyone is making him out to be and the team responds strong.

Was he really defending Wilks though?

He called the defensive system “his system” multiple times (referring to Wilks), blamed the defense, said he was baffled by how we blitz so much but never get pressure and brought up the autonomy Wilks had during the week. Doesn’t sound like a coach who is all in on his DC.

Now Glenn is hands on and Harris gets a three week audition… granted he’s got 1 NFL caliber CB playing and the worst safety room in the league. But Glenn says he’s going to help during the week which he was doing none of so let’s see if JJ and WMD have fallen off a cliff or if it was a result of the most basic and boring blitz scheme I’ve ever witnessed.
