Are you seriously going to give Geno a pass for his lack of leadership? I'm not sure how much you watch NFL video, but there was a shot of Tom Brady running to the end zone after Julian Edelman scored a touchdown on a punt return. Edelman seemed surprised and asked Brady why did he did that. Brady responded "because you're my guy." That's what leaders do. They make teammates better, They set the tone for the team. Everyone looks to the quarterback to lead the team. That's why Manning, Brady and Brees have championship rings. Until players like Geno and even Jay Cutler embrace this aspect of being a NFL quarterback, they will NEVER win.
Brady was fully aware that he was wired for sound and had a camera trained on him the whole game. That's how you got to see & hear that.
I do think Rex time is up. Idzik should have another season though. Marty needs to be fired first. Marty is a terrible game manager.
Cimini is late. Rex pretty much said it in his post game presser. Today Cimini breaks it with headline "Source: Pryor Late to Meetings" who's your source Rich? Let me guess.... Rex Ryan? Possibly because he fucking announced it to everyone. How insulting to the intelligence of people that follow this team. What's next - "Source: Jets to start Vick"
The team plays their heart out for Rex....when the season is lost, like last year. But what about the stupid penalties, the blowout losses, and players missing meetings. Rex is like the teacher you like but take advantage of in high school. I like him, but not for where we're headed.
Jarrett played better making the most of the opportunity. No reason to call Pryor a bust yet. He'll have his chance to develop.
Isn't this kind of front running. But not surprising for this board. Pryor would have gone very soon after Idzik selected him. He was highly rated. Give Rex and Thurmond credit for benching him and hopefully making him accountable. It was a good move last year with Milliner aand he appreciably improved. The guy is going to be a good player.
Some guys lead by example on the field which Geno has yet to do but my point is you don't need to scream at guys like what Brady and Peyton Manning do to get your point across. Some guys can try that and if they can pull it off, that's fine. But the notion that your QB should be the leader and prime example of how things are done in the locker room is silly, that is for head coaches and veterans to do and even then veterans should not need leadership on this level and should go out there and act like the professionals that they are being paid for on and off the field. I defended Pennington on this, I defended Sanchez on this, I will defend Geno on this. Not every QB needs to be loud and get in guys faces, let the coach and his staff do that job. The QB needs to do their tasks and complete them and put points on the board for his team. Curious if Pryor pulled this on Charlie Strong back in Louisville. Makes me wonder how someone's attitude could change in a mere few months. Just watching the game itself, it is clear Pryor is put in rough spots to try and be a coverage safety when he was drafted and known as a guy to stop the run and try to whack players in his vicinity as opposed to being help for a cornerback who blew his assignment so I think it has been pretty unfair on Pryor to be lumped in with the guys we have had in the secondary. But I don't like him missing meetings and tucking his head down when the going gets tough so I like having Jarrett continue to take Pryor's snaps until Pryor himself earns that back. But for Pryor's struggles or him being a "Bust", its not all on Pryor. That's my point and its silly to just throw the guy to the wayside after 10 games.
I understand being punished for missing a meeting (and certainly multiple meetings) but he should've been benched a while back for poor play.
That has yet to be seen. However there are quite a few other players selected after Pryor that have already proven their worth.
In today's NFL you do not have four years for a player to develop into a starter. We are 2-8 for a reason.
Rex commented that JJ starting was more about JJ and less about Pryor,.. hints that we might see more JJ/Pryor combination, and also wants AA to get more consistent looks at safety rather then bouncing CB>SS>CB. Seems like, Once again, "Journalists" taking a sound bite and running with it to get people in an uproar.
Sadly it's too late to offer a Herschel walker type deal -- our entire pathetic, embarrassing 2014 draft class, all 12 worthless scrubs -- to Tampa for Mike Evans? How hard was it to just sit there and take Brandin Cooks @18? This imbecile GM actually said in his post-draft presser that taking Pryor was an "easy choice."
YOU HAVE TO WAIT THREE YEARS TO EVALUATE A DRAFT. 3 YEARS FROM NOW, PRYOR MAY BE STARTING AND THE 8 DRAFT PICKS THAT WERE CUT MAY RETURN TO THE TEAM AS PRO-BOWLERS. You never know.
