Parcells is already getting his hands dirty in getting Miami out of the dolldrums, with visits to their practices, and comments about Miami's QB situation. How do you think Miami will end up after 2 years of Tuna?
Unfortunately I can't think of a reason why he won't turn them around. His track record speaks for itself. The AFC East is going to be brutal in a couple of years. The Jets better continue to have solid drafts and hit FA a little harder.
Bill Parcells on Building Dolphins Roster: 'I Don't Want Thugs and Hoodlums on the Team' Posted Dec 27th 2007 6:11PM by Michael David Smith Filed under: Dolphins, Miami, Breaking News http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007...building-dolphins-roster-i-dont-want-thugs-a/ New Dolphins head honcho Bill Parcells had his introductory news conference today, and it was an event in which he appeared calmer and more thoughtful than he ever had in media events when he was a coach. Eschewing his usual coaching sweatshirt for a sport coat and button-up shirt with no tie, Parcells dressed the part of the team executive and offered a few thoughts on what kind of team he plans to build in Miami. "I don't want thugs and hoodlums on the team," Parcells said of the types of players he'll try to acquire. "I really don't. I don't want bad-character guys. I don't want problem children." When asked why he has, again, come out of retirement and gone back into competition, Parcells said, "I've quit being ashamed of what I am. I'm a guy who loves football. ... You call it, mabye, a male menopause, when you realize you're no longer ashamed of what you are. ... I can't get the game out of my system. I do love the game very much." Parcells offered no insight into whether he'll retain coach Cam Cameron, saying only that after the season, he and Cameron "will have a good long discussion." ___________________________________________________________ My first thought when I read "no thugs" was there goes Porter.
IMO it will take BP about the same time to 'fix' Miami as it will for Mangini to do the same , and the bitter irony will be that Miami will beat us out
Miami, starting their rebuilding process in the 2008 offseason under Parcells, will be back to contention sooner than we are, despite the fact that we started 2 years earlier than them under Mangini... I fully expect no fewer than 7 wins out of Miami next season
Three years from now, they will be serious contenders. Five years from now, they will be in cap hell and last place in the division.
Cap hell, barring extreme FO incompetence, is a thing of the past... The cap has been rising so substantially recently, and is scheduled to continue to do so... Parcells likes to spend, but he won't need to spend to the cap in order to turn Miami around...
"Turns them around", big deal. Unless he wins something of importance, you know, just like he did for the Jets, who really cares about his being head slob at the Dolphins' Research Facility?
Crennel dodges Dolphins coaching rumor Thursday, Dec 27, 2007 2:00 pm EST Cleveland Browns coach Romeo Crennel was asked Wednesday about a report on profootballtalk.com that he's Bill Parcells' No. 1 choice to replace Cam Cameron as head coach of the Miami Dolphins. "I haven't heard it and rumors are rumors," said Crennel. "Everybody has their opinion on that. I haven't heard anything about that. "I've got a contract with the Browns and over my tenure in the NFL, I've always honored my contract," said Crennel, who has two years remaining on his deal. Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer Two cliches come to mind here , no smoke without fire. Everyone has their price.
What exactly has Cennell done to give us any fear of him going to Miami? He's had 1 decent season that may not even end up w/ a postseason berth. I wouldn't mind Crennell going to Miami at all.
I'm not worried in the least at what Crennel can or cannot do at the moment , its what he learns from Parcells and how Parcells molds him, should this happen.
He was w/ parcells for 15 years, what will he learn from him now that he didn't working directly under him for all those years?
Why would he trade those rosters? Why would he want to take over the cellar NFL team in a division with the best?
