Everyone complaining about Chads arm strehgth have a very good point. Bad timing, I suppose, but they make a valid point. However, what seems to get lost in the argument is that most days, he can make up for it with his smarts and understanding of the game, and to me, that is more important. He's an excellent QB from that perspective.
Obviously, this is not the time to bring in Clemens. There's no way he gives the Jets a better chance to win right now. But there's no problem criticizing Chad after a win. Everyone is talking about how terrible Grossman is and the Bears are 10-2. And he is quite terrible, by the way.
I don't think anyone is saying to "bring in Clemens" now. If disaster strikes over the next 2 or 3 games we may see him for a game or two depending on the circumstances. But Chad is playing for his job next season, and if he has many of the "little hiccups" that he got away with today against better opponents I don't think he'll be back next year. These next few games are going to tell the story of Pennington's future with the Jets.
Kellen Clemmens....Ok that would be great, Yeah he really has deserved a start and the key to the city. I do not know what his future will be, but he did suck in preseason. Obviously the person who posted that he should be considered knows a whole bunch about football. I also bet that thier favorite all time player is Ryan Leaf.
McCareins also showed NO FIGHT for the ball. You have to be a moron to make this post with as good of a game Pennington played today.
Pennington threw two picks in garbage time. When it was still a game, he was untouchable. Why is there so much criticism? I can't understand it.
john madden just said: " you don't get to win a super bowl by putting a guy in there just to manage a game". he was referring to cutler in denver. the bottom line is that the entire team has to play well the next 4 weeks. that starts with the qb.
I wouldn't mind seeing Clemens brought in situationally, like for a passing drive with slants and comeback routes, something that would utilize his quick release, but I wouldn't want him brought in to throw a hail mary unless we were really desperate.
Can you imagine if we we got the performance that the Bears or Texans got today. The Texans won and threw for -5 yards and didn't complete a pass in the second half and Grossman had 35 yards or something. Penningotn threw for 263 yards and looked untouchable when it mattered and some people still complain.
yes, but against the better defenses, the weak arm does not leave a large margin for error. so, the rest of the team, especially the defense, has to step up also.
The thing is about the smarts and all, is that lately, or at least in the most recent NE game where he got lucky, and in the Chicago game, and in the Houston game a few times, he just made some bad throws, bad throws decision wise, not by mechanics, but throws that make you wonder, what are you doing? Why are you throwing it there?
