This guy is such a fuckin joke. Look who he has us taking in his mock draft today: In his mind, Jarvis Jones still has not been selected, but we would take Mingo over him haha
Other than the first 2 or 3 picks in a draft I hate mocks. No one ever knows where or who is going to get picked. Once it starts it all changes from pick to pick. Way too fluid for a prediction.
Every time I'm seeing this sort of shit from Cimini or Mehta I wonder if they are doing it on purpose. Showing their wishful thinking, hoping Jets would do something idiotic so that they could go back to the good old times when they didn't need to work hard covering the Jets. I know I am biased against them, but so are they. The difference is I'm a fan, allowed to be biased. They are supposed to be objective.
Yup, great points! Sometimes I think that they (Cimini et al...) can run a clown show just because the Jets are doing it from time to time.
As much of an ass I think Cimini can be, I feel like a lot of the posters on this board make him out to be far worse than he actually is. His reasoning for the pick isn't that bad. Take into account Jones's bad pro day, injury concerns (even if doctors have since cleared him, its still on teams minds) and how raw Ansah is - Mingo isn't as awful of a pick as you guys make him out to be.
Cimini is a Patriots plant. There's no question about it now. He constantly pushes for the Jets to make bad decisions. I bet he only mentioned Mingo over Jones because he secretly wants the Jets to fail and this might trick them into thinking about doing something so dumb.
You should be careful with threads like this. Not only did you possibly jinx the Jets draft, but you've potentially provided necro fodder. Hopefully by pointing this out I've unjinxed everything for you.
Jones has had a terrible few weeks and his value has been plummeting with his 4.9 40. Right now he will be lucky to go in the top 20. If he continues to slide he may make out of the 1st round. He may have been highly productive in college but there are a lot of people questioning if he has the physical athletic skills to be productive in the NFL. While Jones people are arguing Suggs had similar problems and was a great value at 10. The one thing saving Jones right now is the top of the draft is so weak. There is such little value there. Everyone seems to have red flags. The Jets pick 9 pick is like a normal 20 pick. In regards to Mingo while many do not like him he has been consistently mocked to the Jets by many mocks for 2-3 months now. Like him or hate him he is certainly a possibility and given Jones problem of late Mingo is more likely than not to go ahead of Jones in this draft.
LOL This may be true, but I have more trust in Idzik than to rely solely on luck and jinxing things like before haha
Someone saw Cimin and Idzik at Ruth Chris Steak House in a private booth. Cimini was doing all the talking and Idzik had a note pad out and was writing as fast as he could. :breakdance:
I wouldn't mind Mingo. I'm worried about Jones because of his recent issues. If Jordan falls to us, which isn't impossible, I would be stoked, I think he's the best pass rusher of the bunch. Would also take Ansah over Mingo, but that's just me.
Ive seen Mingo to the Jets in more than 2 or 3 mocks so far.A thread to say this is retarded simply because its Cimini?
Mingo is a possibity. He's 6'5 and about 240. He definetly needs to add some weight. In that situation I would take Ansah. I know Jones has had a great college career but he is slow, not strong and looks small. I see him as a 4-3 olb.
I still can't believe how people are so fast to discount production. If Jones and Moore slip, they could be steals for the mid to late 1st.
I've actually warmed up quite a bit to Mingo. His body type is worrisome..definitely.But he does have long arms & the frame to put on more weight. Those who point to the lack of production need to go back & watch 3 things. 1. Sophomore tape- Back when offenses were still trying to block him w/ 1 OT & before Miles fell in love w/ QB contains on D. Frightening first step & ability to get the edge. He was considered the #2 overall prospect heading into his Junior year.Eerily similar to Quinton Coples. I'm sure all would agree LSU itself took a huge step back as a program..and there were significant problems behind the scene. 2. The level of disruption on tape- Maybe he wasn't wracking up stats his Junior year..but he was most definitely occupying multiple blockers & had ball carriers eyes. Every game he was in he affected the level of play around him. Maybe he didn't fight through alot of double teams but he surely freed up teammates. 3.Ability to run the arc- Matched up 1-on-1 w/ any OT..run point A to point B in the backfield..1 snap. I'm not sure there is anyone better at it in this class. That first step is scary quick. Dwight Freeney-esque. There are certainly drawbacks to him as a prospect. But I find Jet nation's complete abhorrence for him a little off base. I'm not sure where it stems from really.
the fact that cimini is still employed after his lousy reporting and unethical behavior tells you all you need to know. he's a complete fraud.
The abhorrence for Mingo stems from the fact that he really hasn't been a particularly good pass rusher for the last two seasons. He also hasn't been a 1st Team All-Conference player when the guy playing opposite him on the defensive line, who is not seen as an elite talent, has been. The guy has 15 sacks in 3 seasons at LSU. That's not Lawrence Taylor incarnate. My issue with him is I don't want another project player taken up high by the Jets. If the Jets are going to take a guy to play OLB for them he better be somebody who has put good to great numbers up in college and/or been recognized as the best at what he does. Could Mingo be great? Sure. There are a lot of guys who could be great in this draft. I'd prefer Jones or Jordan over Mingo by a mile. I'm not sure I wouldn't prefer Moore over Mingo either even though Moore seems to have a lower ceiling. At least he sacked the QB consistently in college. If the Jets take another slow developing guy in the first couple of rounds it's going to be hard to get the turnaround going. If they take another outright bust it'll get uglier than that.
