woah. I know I'm not crazy for thinking this was the last year of his contract. Well apparently not. The Jets hush hush extended Schotty last offseason, even more pointing to the fact that the Jets realize the opposition and obviously realize he sucks, but extended him anyway. Him being here is such a behind the scenes political fuckfest its not even funny. And what pisses me off is it says he's signed through "AT LEAST" 2012...why doesn't anyone know how long his contract runs through?!? The Jets being secretive about this is absolute horseshit. From the article: "Contrary to some reports, Schottenheimer isn't a lame-duck coordinator. The Jets quietly extended his contract last offseason and he's signed through at least 2012, ESPNNewYork.com has learned. Of course, that doesn't mean he's untouchable. His fate could be determined over the final six games." If the Jets try to keep him one more year and pull the wool over the fans eyes it's going to get ugly. There will be some serious noise if this happens. While yes they can fire him, I'm a little pissed as a fan that the team didn't announce this extension. http://espn.go.com/new-york/story/_...jets-gang-green-offense-needs-produce-buffalo
Wow that is shady as hell but what are we suppose to do? Lets just draft some offensive line and go with it
damn!!! well if we miss the playoffs im pretty sure he will be fired, if we make it he will most likely be here next year.
Then fire schotty chants will be started throughout the stadium. The jets will be embarrassed by their fans
TBH even if the Jets do end up firing him this damages their credibility....how can you extend a controversial OC and not say a peep about it... clearly a gag order on the organization. the question is why.
Ugh. Ugh. I get that they did this in the offseason, but, for real, if there's any delusions after the horrendous play of the offense this season, about whether or not Schotty should stay, they need to get the pulse of some of their players, and find out where they are on this whole... Schotty staying on beyond this year, thing. I'm not saying players should get to "run things." BUT, I am saying, when we've had LT, Holmes, Sanchez, and even Slauson drop the same buzz words, like: "predictable" and "failure to adjust" and when everyone and their mother has come out and said that we're telegraphing, and when Dustin Keller is talking about how the players are talking about how it's "disappointing" they can't put it all together, and... Mason popped off about everyone knowing there were cracks, which tells us it's something that gets said bts amongst the players, and when Schotty is doing nothing to play to anyone's strengths, and people aren't getting the opportunities to contribute they think they should be, and... So on. Uhh, would not be shocked if there are some players headed for a meltdown if things don't change, and they find out Schotty is the future. Don't think that ish will play well with some of the offensive players. Really don't.
Decent OC, and not surprised they want to keep him for another year. He's nothing special, but Jet fans make him out to be the worst OC in the league when he's produced average offensive production (right around 16th out of 32) during his time here. We play in a tough division, we had terrible talent throughout the 1st half of his tenure, the stadium is outdoors in the northeast, we've only had one good QB (who joined during the 3rd week of preseason, and was hurt later in the regular season, and we still had a top 10 offense during that season), and Rex limits our offense because he wants ground and pound. Schotty could be doing a lot worse. I was hoping we could get Andy Reid as he might get fired this season. But resigning Schotty is a good move too. Until Sanchez stops progressing (believe it or not, his play has gotten better each year), I don't see a reason to fire Schotty unless someone like Reid comes along.
I truly wonder WTF the Jets see in this guy. Holmes must be kicking himself for signing a long term deal here with this moron as an OC
wtf that would be very very bad... at this point I might consider hoping the Jets don't get to the playoffs just to get rid of this guy... at this point it's clear we won't be winning anything with him in charge.
Holmes has approx $25M guaranteed...He doesn't give a crap who the OC is. As for Schotty's contract extension. It really isn't a big deal. If the Jets want to can him they can. TheJets can eat his 2012 salary or if he hooks up with another team, as say a QB coach, the Jets would most likely then just make up the difference from what they owe him and his new salary in a lesser coaching role. So people can stop overreacting, freaking out and jumping off bridges....
