I only have one thing to say about the Dolphins: :finssuck: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2010/05/dolphins-cornerback-sean-smith.html Dolphins cornerback Sean Smith slights Braylon Edwards » By Manish Mehta Maybe Sean Smith simply needs to hop into the film room and take another look. Or maybe he is, in fact, delusional. Either way, the Miami cornerback tossed another log onto the fire in the Jets-Dolphins never-ending war of words by taking credit for something that, well, never happened in his matchups against Braylon Edwards last season. The Dolphins, of course, swept the season series with their AFC East rivals. But it had little to do with Smith’s play against Edwards, who had a pair of productive games against Miami. ``We had a couple of good battles,” Smith told the Miami Herald last week. The second-year pro later added, “I definitely won those battles.” Really? Truth be told, the Dolphins tried different defenders against Edwards. Cornerbacks Will Allen, Vontae Davis and Smith each had their cracks against the lanky Jets wide receiver. Edwards had 9 catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns in two games against the Dolphins. Smith apparently forgot about Edwards’ one-handed, 19-yard TD grab against him in Week Eight. I took a quick look at the game tape and here's what happened: Edwards lined up wide left and beat Smith in man-to-man coverage on the play. Smith never turned his head and found the ball. Edwards cradled it with his left hand and fought off Smith and safety Chris Clemons into the endzone. Nobody expects the Dolphins to crown the Jets after their flurry off-season acquisitions, but Smith should give credit where credit is due. Bottom line: Edwards got the better of him last season. Nice to see manish defending our guys since Sagulero or whatever his name is slandering them at every turn, or you know at least constantly reporting the miami players that are slandering us.
That dude's writing is a disgrace. I can't believe any self respecting newspaper would allow such drivel to grace it's pages. And the fact that some on here follow it like it is gospel and post every article he writes just adds to it. These articles are no better than that bleacherreport site.
Its good to see our beat writers defending the jets... epecially after all of the BS coming out of salgueros mouth.
Here's an idea...let's give a rival WR some bulletin board material in his contract year. I mean, I already suck balls...so what can it hurt right? Sean Smith is a dunce. Edwards is going to rape this kid in 2010.
if our guys and coaches talk trash we should be able to take it when opponents do it. I have no problme w/ Smith running his mouth but that "writer" from Miami is getting irritating w/ his dolphin pom poms.
The first couple of article I read from that Salqueero retard, I was positive that they were from Bleacher Report. Tell you the truth, I have seen much better articles come from BR than Queero is capable of. As far as this article goes, Manish continues to set himself apart from the NY Jets media corps with every article. Not so much with objectivity, as he tends to lean the homer slant, but he does a ton of research to back up his articles.
So, Edwards averaged 4rec for 69 yards and a TD in his games against the Fins? Hardly dominant or anything. And that would be assuming everyone of his catches came against Smith, which they didn't. Edwards caught a nice TD against him once, but that's enough to say Edwards "won" against him when they matched up? I'd say it was more of a draw than anything. It's not like Edwards did a whole lot against Smith.
The first time they played they met a few days after he was trdaed and he was a hige difference maker in that game w/ 1 TD(should have been 2) and drawuing that huge PI call. No one shut him down in that game, no one slowed him down in that game. Miami beat us twice b/c of O in the first game and STs in the 2nd game. Your D was handled easily by our offense in both games.
Do you expect him to have a monster game, after being acquired from the Browns like a week before? If you thought Braylon was pedestrian before, wait until you see what a full off-season learning the system and developing chemistry with Sanchez will do, plus it's a contract year for Braylon, he's going to eat Sean Smith alive
We will see. Like I said, Smith didn't "lock him down", and Edwards didn't go off on Smith. Pretty "Eh..." all the way around for both. Smith also won't be a rookie and has a year under his belt. Both should end up playing better this coming season.
Not to mention Braylon was catching balls from a QB who has yet to throw a 300 yard game AND against a team that ran the ball more than any other team in the league. So since Peyton Manning is not the QB of the Jets - a 70 yard avg is pretty good...
So when S. Smith talks, he is a big mouth, but when Sexy Rexy talks even after being swept it's intelligent? WOW!!!! ok, I'm sorry, I should have known, my bad!
