Like I said in another thread, if Cowher was "iffy" on returning to coaching then this is probably for the best.
If this is the case, then I'm with Woody. Had Cowher been seriously interested in the Jets job, he would have waited for Woody to return. There was no point in contacting Cowher immediately just to beg him to come to the Jets. Wouldn't have been a good negotiation tactic anyway.
Cowher never took any job seriously. Yet we have to rag on our own team constantly for that. I don't understand Jets fans.
What truth? There is no truth here, just innuendo, supposition, hearsay and speculation. Come back when there is some thruth.
Just as everything that has been written that you have been bitching about for the past week. The guy didn't want to coach this year unless he was blown away with a monetary offer. I'm glad we didn't give in to the pressure and hire a coach only in it for the money. Now hopefully it works out for the best.
No doubt a lot of other stories fall into these categories too but you never heard me say "the truth comes out". I go by that old Poe saying, "believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see".
Not sure exactly what to believe with all of the 'anonymous league sources' coming out with contradicting notions, but the New York Freaking Post is the last place I'm going to look for the 'truth'.
You can hear exactly what the real story is straight from Cowher if you download the interview with him from WFAN today. I suppose he could just be making shit up, but at least it's directly from him and not some reporter who is speculating based on something that another reporter speculated.
I did. I also heard him confirm that Cowher had requested an opportunity to speak to the owner of the Jets personally. The same week he turned down offers by two other teams. He danced around the subject, saying he didn't want them to think he was 'too good' or 'too smug' to talk to them, after doing that exact thing to 2 other teams. That interview was damage control. Cowher has his 'people' put out feelers through the press, has them contact Tanny and try to see how much they can get the Jets to dance and pay, doesn't like the situation and comes out publicly denying he ever had any interest coaching. Events seem to contradict Bill Cowher's words. Damage control.
IMO is wasn't the point of whether or not he was iffy or whatever but the way the JETS handled this and everything else is why I get angry.
My avatar makes me want to work in the porn industry. I already have a schtick planned out as a brown guy.
