I did not want Sanchez in the draft, I made that clear, hated the pick. Expected a long season with a rookie QB and coach, especially one that played 16 games. Then we went 3-0 and I got caught up and boom, thinking division. Well now its back to reality. At best, we are a fringe wild card team or we could go 6-10. I am not gonna rip the QB or coach, they are both rookies and this is the price we are gonna pay. The thing is, are they gonna both learn from their mistakes and get better? Sanchez might get worse before he gets better. Ryan needs to start coaching the team and learn how to manage the game and get his eyes off his chart and start acting like the HEAD coach. Again, this comes with time. Unlike Mangini, lets hope Ryan gets better, not worse. We gotta be realistic here, this team has holes, especially on defense, we need a CB and DL that can rush the passer. I am gonna take it one game at a time, my hope is to be in the wild card race in December so for me, a win in Oakland sets up a big game at home against the Dolphins and a 5-3 record at the bye. Don't pay attention to the media, they build the coach and QB up while remidning you they are rookies and then kill them when they act like it. I am not gonna be a Beninigo and start this 40 year crap over and over. I am being a stupid jet an or is this realistic?

Right now everyone is back to what we were thinking during training camp. We were thinking we'd be lucky to get 6 wins this season, then suddenly after weeks 2 and 3, people were expecting a 12-win seasons. Now we're back.

    Thanks for your darksider opinion.

Not me. I was predicting 8-8 in the preseason, then switched to 12-4 now switch to 4-12.

Look god damn it...If we win in Oakland we're 4-3 heading into a big showdown with the Dolfags who will be 2-4 after the Saints beat the piss out of them this week. If we win that game....IF....we'll be 5-3 heading into the bye and in perfect shape.

Jenkins loss hurts...big time. This is a true test of coach and team. Wipe off the tears, take a deep breath, and man the fuck up!! The only thing I'm worried about right now is Oakland.

By the way...I like Beninigo...I really do...but sometimes he goes a little overboard with the Jets drama. But he's in a radio...I suppose its his job.

2nd round pick Kenyon Coleman,Abram Elam for a 22 year old potential franchise QB? you do that trade 12 out of 10 times

Brent Ratliff and the 1st round pick is a wash because we received both in return.

Mark Sanchez is going to be great, I just know it. It's my opinion obviously but that's what it is.

You didn't like the draft pick?? That's laughable, but also your opinion and you're entitled to it too.

Like I've said before I"m a life long Jet fan, stayed away from forums for this exact reason, but with the PSL's looming I was drawn in and can't seem to escape.

The Jet fans I "run" with are much more positive and believe in the team, especially this one. Those flashes of brilliance in the first 4 games, (yes I'm including the Saints for our "D's" behalf) had to come from somewhere.

The Jets will right the ship and Mark isn't fading away, he's going to be our QB for a long time and I'm glad he's on our team.

I'm just looking forward to next week so we can finally taste victory again. You so called "darksiders" can east pissy cheerios all week, doesn't change the fact that we are a good team that could be great.

Thank you I agree with this completely, I think personally we can beat the Raiders without Jenkins, we maybe down and about out at this time, but I think personally this team can win 10 games still, and if we get to 9 or 10 wins I would personally think that Rex is the right coach if he can adjust and move on, lets just grind it out and at least play with some fucking dignity, if we go out there and play our hardest regardless of win or lose I want to see some heart out there, Darksiders can kiss my ass to be honest

But the offense is going to have to put up some decent # of points, on that side of the ball were going to have to really step up

I expected 9-7 or 8-8, and I still expect 9-7 or 8-8. Although suffering another loss like that of Jenkins' early in the year may take one 9or more) out of the win column.

The Buffalo loss was painful and embarassing but this team just have to forget about it and focus on Oakland...take it one game at a time and hopefully get better as they move along....Sanchez just needs to relax and keep his head up...as long as he doesn't lose complete confidence and the offensive line does a better job of protecting him...he'll be fine and a starter for years to come...

I always thought that we'd win 9 to 11 games this year, so...

Thanks 314 for a REASONABLE Darksider opinion. And as one of the original Darksiders (and Jillozzo weren't YOU one?) I think this is a fair assessment.

Before Mangini was fired I said we needed a replacement for Jenkins. Piouha (sp) is serviceable but he's not the wall of death that a healthy Jenkins is. Was a first round draft pick going to fix that? Probably not, but maybe he would have been our 3rd NT for when Jenkins INVARIABLY would go down. The guy is too big to stay healthy through a full season. PERIOD.

Now as for Sanchez, I was against the pick. Not Sanchez. I was against trading up that high for that cost in order to grab a guy who was ONLY A SINGLE SEASON STARTER. The guy was impressive in that year against college opponents in beautiful California weather, but let's face it Sanchez is lower than a rookie. He's a College Senior playing in the major leagues. Will he be good? YES. Will he be GREAT? Maybe, if this season doesn't destroy his mental game.

Garcia is still waiting for a phone call. We should have given him a call the minute we sent Ratliff over to Cleveland.

Ryan MUST get it into his head that he is the HEAD COACH and start coaching Schotty. The run is working again. And a steady diet of TJ, Leon, and Greene will wear down most defenses while keeping ours off the field a little bit more. Sanchez does a fine play fake (not Pennington or Manning good) let's use it. Use the short passing game around the run and go for the bigger passes enough to keep the defenses on their toes. The coaching staff needs to stop buying into the media and fan hype that Sanchez is the second coming of Dan Marino, Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, and Joe Natham combined. He's Eli Manning his rookie year at best of times and Jamarques Russel at his worst. Put the kid in a place to suceed.

    We COULD beat Oakland.
We SHOULD beat Miami (though that went down ten notches with the loss of Jenkins)
At Best we're 5-3 and have a shot at the Wild Card. Probably we're 4-4 going into the break.

We won't beat New England a second time.
    We SHOULD beat the Bills
    That's 5-5

We COULD beat the Jags and Panthers
    We SHOULD beat Tampa Bay
We'll lose to Atlanta, Colts, and Bengals (maybe one win)

    I think we're LUCKY with an 8-8 with a possibility of a 10-6.

Ill admit i was a little bewildered by the fact that we took a guy who had only start 16 games in his college career. I myself probably would not have made that decision but I have to believe these coaches see something in him and I have faith, and I still have even more faith in rex ryan. Just please beat oakland, please.

Dont sell yourself short, your not a darksider, thats a very realistic statement. Rookies make mistakes, we all knew it, we all knew a month ago that this team would lose a few games it should win because of the inexperience under center. Frankly I wasn't a fan of the pick at the time either, one starting season and an early exit from college seemed like a bad mix, but I believe we've seen a lot more good than bad from him this year, and I believe he'll get better.

One thing I've been thinking about today, probably because I keep hearing people say it about McDaniels, is that teams play with the emotion of their coaches. And I can't help but remember how Ryan seemed on the edge of tears after the dolphins loss. The highs are so high, and the lows are so low. I think he needs to take a page from the Mangini book and approach each and every week the same way. If your going into consecutive divisional games, early in the season and with a winning record, and saying that both are 'must wins', you need to level off. Guys will be emotionally exhausted before we get to the bye week. But he's a rookie too.

Here's hoping that both guys take advantage of this year and do some improving so they're ready to roll with Big Kris Jenkins when he gets back. Not that I'm writing off the year, but it's hard to think super bowl when your best and most talented player is on IR.

I guarantee Rex doesn't act like he did this year again, but in no way does he need to be Mangini. He's gotta save his "must wins" for the Patsies and live or die games.

    1. I self predicted the Jets going 0-4 going into the year.

I fell for the hype and swagger leading up to the season, and how well the defense played the first........ well every game but the Miami game.

Im over being upset. I was down right depressed last week after the Phins game. But now, whatever. Lets fight through this and live to play another day. Draft depth at both lines. See what happens in the future.

Or shock me and win some more games. I'll take that too.

Look,i understand the whole darksider thing. But how can you be a darksider after 5 games with a new HC and QB,and a slew of other new players? I mean,if you want to hate a regime after a year or 2 fine. But if your just going to hate from the start, why bother being a Jet fan?

The problem I have is this, why can Josh Mcdaniels go into Denver with Kyle Orton and be successful? Why can Flacco be successful in his first year with a rookie HC, Matt Ryan the same in Atlanta, even Singletary in San Fran....WHY CAN'T WE BE SUCCESSFUL?

Can some one answer this for me?

I have been watching the JETS for 30 years, we have been good since 2000, why can't we take it to the next level?:drunk:
