I couldn't believe this when I saw it. 40 Times Vernon Davis TE- 4.38 Reggie Bush RB/WR- 4.42 Could Davis really be faster than Bush or was this just a slow run by Bush. Like I said this blows my mind how fast Davis is compared to Reggie
Yeah Bush got a 4.33 and was upset he didn't finish in the 4.29 range. So no Bush is definitely faster.
He's not only faster, he's a much better player than Davis. I don't get why there are some many Davis homers on this board. Hell, Michael Huff ran a 4.34 40 at the combind and if he was coverign Davie my money would be on Mr Huff every time.
Just in case anybody is wondering the source of this its http://www.usatoday.com/sports/graphics/nfldraft06/flash.htm
What's your point though? Do you think he is worth drafting higher than Bush? Davis had one good year in college and one sick 40 time. I don't believe that makeshim a better ball player than Bush.
My point is that Bush is supposed to be one of the most explosive players to ever come out of college football and I was surprised to see a TE, no matter what caliber, have a faster 40 time than him. I don't think he should be drafted higher, but it is an interesting thing to look at.
Whether Bush ran a faster straight line time or not (he did, but Davis did it on the slowtrack of the combine) just does not matter. Bush PLAYS with 100% of his speed. Ever see the man cut? Does he even HINT at slowing down? Coles ran a 4.19 in one of his pro days. He's a very fast man. He does NOT play with that speed (even pre-toe). He still plays fast, but when he cuts, he SLOWS (most do, that's not a knock on Coles). It doesn't look like Bush slows at ALL and that's the difference.
Regardless of 40 time anybody who's seen Reggie Bush play knows that he is probably the fastest player in the draft (and without a doubt the best playmaker, with respect to Vince Young.)
i know what ur talkin about, you know who else does that, or at least did on one play and its the only play i can remmeber by this player, tim dwight when he was on the chargers and they faced us, and he brought back that punt. that one cut he made was sick he didnt slow down at all. and now he is on our team, i dunno just had to toss that play in there
Dude Reggie ran a 4.33 at the USC Pro Day and he is a RB not a RB/WR.... RB - Bush (5-11, 202) ran his 40 in 4.33. Had a 10-foot-9 long jump and 40½-inch vertical jump. Did not do any of the shuttles or the three-cone drill, but he was worked out by Jim Skipper, the running backs coach of Carolina, and Eric Bieniemy, the running backs coach of Minnesota. He looked very, very good in position drills, including time in spent at wide reciever in passing drills. Link: http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/9353513 I would love to take Addai in a later round like nfldraftcountdown.com has us doing. Although nobody I have seen in a while plays as fast as Bush, it's almost as if they play his highlights with him in fast forward and the rest of the players at normal speed.
Hell you wanna see someone who is explosive out of his cuts take a look at Maurice Drew. Hes got the biggest thighs on the smallest guy Ive ever seen, that little dude can fly
