LOL You get a lot more good than bad with the guy. Turning point of the season was when Mangini put some demands on Favre. I can honestly say that you don't see Favre wing the ball WAY out of bounds in the red zone very often like he did late in the 4th quarter tonight. He's always trying to make a play, but there's nothing wrong with not forcing things all the time. Great win tonight. :jets:
I am just glad he finally did something to make the jets understand just what he does for this football team. Hopefully this is the begining of an excellent second half for the jets, and Favre. If you can knock of Tenn with another EXCELLENT (and you'll need excellent against that defense) performance from Favre, your talking possibly as being considered one of the top dogs in the NFL.
BF is famous for trying to keep the play alive even when the pass rush was getting through. He was an option QB in HS and it shows, he loves to scramble and throw crazy shovel passes. This game he was just giving up and hitting the ground when the protection was poor. I blame Mangini for this. Don't change BF, you stupid crap.
I gotta admit. I was calling to get rid of him. I also, ask for his forgiveness. Why is he crying at the press conference?? He looks awful close.....
That's just it. There was no doubt that Favre was HOT this game. Just on fire. Could of had 3 or 4 TD passes, but you could tell second half especially, the coaches really put some reigns on him, making him eat it when he wanted to keep it alive and make something happen. Coach's, stop trying to change Brett. When he was on a role like that in the first half, you let him ride that wave. I mean, look what happened in the last two drives of hte game when you let Brett be Brett? 10 points with a OT winning FG. Seriously, don;t you want that all game long? I understand cutting down on mistakes, but you had a lead, and punts are just nice term for a turnover.
Guys......there's something you have to realize about Brett. He needs to be coached. I don't blame anyone for getting pissed when he was throwing those picks. I was upset too and have had to deal with them for the better part of 2 decades. He'll keep throwing it up and playing like a loose cannon if you let him. Props to Mangini for realizing this and reining him in a bit. When this guy makes the proper reads and trusts the offense, he's fuckin' good. REALLY GOOD. Those two pass plays in OT.....the 3rd and 15 to keller and the other one to Coles.....those are vintage Favre. Been watching that shit for years. This team is good enough to win games without Brett being exceptional. He's progressing though, and this team is going to get better now. Before tonight they thought they were good. Now they believe it.
I agree that they need to reign him in a little bit. Mostly when they're on the long side of the field. However, when they're at the 50, I'd instruct Brett to play smart, but don't feel like you can't go deep. Worst case is you have an interception at their 20 yard line - kind of like a punt. I personally don't mind interceptions when they're on the short side of the field. People get way too carried away about Picks, like they're the end of the ****ing world. I'd rather see some picks than to do what we did and run the ball three times down the middle when the Patriots basically had 53 men on the line expecting the run - ****ing stupid. What really got me was 3rd and 3 and we run the same damn play that just got plugged twice before. Why not a bootleg towards the edge? why not a short dump pass? ...instead we punted (fancy word for interception) away and allowed the Patriots (who were hot already) to get the ball and tie the game. And guess what, they did it. Don't want to piss in everybody's cheerios here because I'm just happy we won the game. I shouldn't be bitchin. We're 7 and 3, we're 7-3, we're in first place.. Damn I like the sound of that!
