Hanging out, shopping at the mall yesterday, I look up after placing a sneaker on one of my niece's foot and who do I see? Yes! Yours truly Dee Milliner. I'm a fan, not a fanatic, but my son and I were definitely happy to see a member of the team we root for. As Dee shopped I said, "Get well soon." With a humble grin I believe he replied by saying thanks, I can't quote him exactly, I tried my best not to "blow his spot up," as we say. He seemed to be there on a relaxing shopping outing, slightly limping around the store in seemingly good spirits. I've had several high ankle sprains over the years, I can personally say that in my opinion, he was walking as if he will definitely be ready in 2 weeks or less. My son was a little star struck, kept asking me questions about Dee instead of approaching him himself. So, I instructed my son, "Go ask him if he will be ready for the Raiders, because I won't buy tickets to the first game if he is not playing." Shyly, with an enormous kool aid grin, my son walked over to him as I continued to try sneakers on my nieces. Upon his return I asked, "Well... what did he say? Is he playing?" My son replied, "He said he will be ready for the Raiders."
Very cool! That's awesome for your son! I hope this is true. They don't even know if it's a high ankle sprain I head. Still waiting to take MRI.
Personally, my guess is that Dee Milliner suffered a pretty big low ankle sprain. If he'd had a high ankle sprain, he'd still have a boot on, especially in practice (where he was seen running/jogging without it sometimes. They'd never have him do that with a recent high ankle sprain.) If it is a low ankle sprain, that would explain why he's so optimistic about when he'll be back. Those only take like 3ish weeks to heal in severe cases, whereas even a moderate high ankle sprain takes 4 - 6 weeks. It shouldn't really be a nagging injury, hopefully, and I think he can still have a great season for us as a 16 game starter at #1 CB. Definitely good news for the Jets!
Hopefully he is ready for week 1 but my concern would be his level of play after missing time in practice and reps in preseason, not sure if Rex would start him if he doesn't practice leading up to week 1. Another concern would be how bad it starts to flare up after heavy reps and would it slow him down a bit after half time. Hopefully our trainers will have him ready and hes good to go.
So I'm suppose to belive everythings ok because some guy "claims" to have spoken to Dee Millner in a shoe store? You guys are so guliable. No wonder the New York media runs the Jets
No one said you have to "belive" him at all. It's just a nice story that "fansince90" wanted to share with us...
Come on Dee we are depending on you. I hope you were being realistic and not just optimistic. Also, I don't want the Gang to think my report was false.
