Don Banks had this guy going to us at No. 17 in his latest mock draft. He put up the second fastest 40 time in the past 10 years with a 4.30, was in the top 10 in the bench press, and top 5 in the vertical jump out of everybody in the combine. I'm starting to like him quite a bit.
He's a very skilled player. 6'2 210 LBS has great speed and athlethicism. I wouldn't mind taking him at #17.
yea of what ive seen of him he looks like he could be a great player. a lot of people on this board seem to hate him though so it makes me cautious to take him cause i dont know much about him other than a few youtube videos.
I'm pretty sure I remember Fabian Washington and Yamon Figurs both breaking the 4.30 mark in recent years. Washington holds the fastest official combine time at 4.25. And I'd take Nicks, Britt, Maclin, Crabtree, and possibly Harvin and Robiskie over DHB. Don't get me wrong, his measurables astound me, but his game tape doesn't. If you put my grandma in pads and threw her out there, she'd shy away from contact less than DHB. Also, his hands are very iffy. I agree with the skeptics on this board who say he's bound to be Troy Williamson 2.0.
He's a shitty route runner and would take too long to adapt to the nfl. if we're going to go wr with the 17th pick it should be hakeem nicks.
I hate drafting WRs, it usually takes three eyars before you know if you've got something, they whine, and even when they're successful, they don't do anything that excites me. For my money, I'd rather sign a proven vet or, if I HAVE to draft one, I throw out all that shit about hands, height weight speed, and I take the most polished, NFL-ready WR in the hopes of lessening the prospects of him busting a nut of crap all over my WR corps. cough brian Robiskie cough
1. This should be in the draft forum. 2. If you're going to make a thread on a guy -- spell his name right. 3. TROY WILLIAMSON 2.0 - speed isn't everything.
Yeah I agree. All the great vet wide receivers will be let go by their current teams because they're so great. And let's take someone in the later rounds because a first round talent will suck, or the team can reach for a more polished guy with average skills. I like the way you think.
I also disagree with Mr. James (above), but here's the article on Heyward-Bey off the Jets website: http://www.newyorkjets.com/blog/posts/967-heyward-bey-to-jets-mocks-si-s-banks 03/12 ? My good friend Don Banks has posted his third NFL mock draft of the season on si.com today, and he's got a new name going to the Jets at No. 17, although also a name draftniks are familiar with: Darrius Heyward-Bey, the, 6'2", 210-pound Maryland wide receiver. "I seem to be in the distinct minority in that I don't have Southern Cal quarterback Mark Sanchez sitting there waiting for the Jets to snatch him up. But I'm OK with that," Banks writes. "Believe it or not, I think New York has more confidence in the untested Brett Ratliff than most folks know. Having lost Laveranues Coles, New York should be in the market for a receiver whose 4.3 speed is capable of stretching the field opposite the steady Jerricho Cotchery." Bey is a good one, no doubt. He in fact reeled off a 4.30-second 40 at the recent combine workouts, the fastest not only among the fast wideout class but among all combine participants. He also had a 38.5" vertical jump, fifth among wideouts, a 10'6" broad jump (tied for fifth) and a 6.80-second three-cone drill (tied for eighth). Add Heyward-Bey to the watch list.
