Thanks to Justin Tucker and the Baltimore Ravens the Jets are currently in first place.

I'm hardly suggesting the Jets will take the division, but really all things considered 3 weeks into the season and after today's game things could be a lot worse.

The win today was ugly, no doubt about it. The WR's need to catch the damn ball and losing Revis is a big blow.

But all things considered the Jets could be in a much worse position.

It's time for guys to step up.

Kyle Wilson, you were drafted in the first round, not to be a servicable nickle corner but to provide first round value at your position. It's time for you to step up or get out of the way.

Cro, you are being paid as a #1 CB. It's time for you to earn that salary.

Holmes, you are being paid legit #1 money. It's time to show you are an unquestioned #1 receiver.

Sanchez, you were drafted top 5. It's time for you to stop with the stupid throws you seem to make and take the next step.

Bottom line is guys either step up, or need get the fuck out of the way.

You're asking for a lot........But after some brutal losses the Pats seem a little over rated. Especially since they can't block very long.

To be technically correct, the Jets would have been in first win or loss from the Pats since the next thing is divisional record and the Pats ahven't played one yet and the Jets 2-0.

    But first place!!

TurkJetFan is asking for a lot. But he isn't asking for anything we shouldn't all be demanding. Kyle Wilson needs to play better NOW. Cromartie needs to play well all the time, not occasionally. Sanchez needs to grow up--hell Ponder and Kolb are outplaying him consistently so far this season. Holmes needs to practice catching the football and separating from defenders--if he can't do that anymore, he needs to retire right now. Coples, Davis, Powell, McKnight, Kerley, Hill and Vlad need to step up and outplay the old farts that aren't getting it done. Seeing how the starters at their positions have been performing, they should be blowing up practices--doing whatever it takes to make sure they take somebody's job and keep it. Same goes for Tebow--if you're the team player/competitor the media hard sells you as, take somebody's job! There are plenty of opportunities here, Timmy: Connor, Keller, Greene, Scott, Pace.......you could have any of their positions in the bag by next week, if you're the competitor you're supposed to be.

I always take notes when watching the games (might be a Swedish thing), but the thread title here is about the only thing on my list that's a big positive.

Here's what I took away from the game:
    • Holmes #10 - "Had it with this POS, body language getting worse and worse for each game, even when catching the ball. Constantly nagging for Def PI's after every single missed catch isn't helping your popularity, you fkin douche"
    • Powell #29 - "V good! POWELL FTW!"
    • Malone #3 - "The most consistent on the team so far?"
    • Smith #33 - "Please go away. Why is he even considered in man cover, wtf... 1 turnover and 1 personal foul caused, wd"
    • Greene #23 - "Why the #@!¤ is he the go-to-guy in the red zone?!?!? Fucking laughable watching a guy like Bush, and then watching this 2y/carry machine, go find some OL to fall into already"
    • Cromartie #31 - "Can't we trade this guy while he has some value for someone that might even be worse, but at least consistant? Never liked the guy or the player"
    • Maybin #51 - "Officer, I'd like to report a missing person"

When taking these notes, I always end up with a heavily inked portion of the paper down at the bottom, usually containing poisoned skulls, a couple of hang mans, a few stabbing knives and whatever else, all in the midst of a storm of psychopathic scribbly lines - with what appears to have the word GREENE way, way underneath somewhere.

Speaking of Maybin, it sure seems like the added weight he put on in the offseason actually slowed him quite a bit and he is getting no pressure at all this year so far...

The only direction for this offense to go is up. Potentially losing Revis hurts pretty bad, but I'm confident Kyle Wilson can step up and play winnable football at the position.

A 5-3 start is a reasonable expectation at this point, as it was all along. Beat the Patriots in week 7 and a trip to the playoffs looks pretty likely with the way the second half of the schedule lays out.

I'm a realist. The talent isn't there. I'm expecting little so anything close a winning season would be a plus at this point.

    Offense in mediocre at best.

And without Revis, defense has no playmakers. No rushers. Aging linebackers. And, oh this one hurts the most, a starting Kyle Wilson, one of the worst defensive backs I've seen in years.

Eight wins at best, five at worst.

Tbh, if it hadn't been for his injury now vs MIA (which forced the camera on him), I could've sworn he missed the plane.

One thing I sort of "like" in that Revis is injured, is that others will have to get it together now without the luxury of having The Island. Which, in theory, should make the overall team better until he gets back and we'd be better off for it once he returns.

I'm hoping for a month's absence for Revis (as opposed to for the season), which contains these two next games vs SF and HOU which we'll get buttplugged left and right in anyway, looking at how we played today.

Also, at least I never felt too comfortable watching Revis today having some heavy collisions with his recent concussion, and his head will be better off getting some further rest for a while. The ACL is nothing if you compare it to if he'd become a casualty of too many head traumas and having to walk away from the sport forever at a relatively young age (I know he was cleared by the NFL, but ask any doctor and they'll tell you to take it easy for months).

Finally, there must be some way where we get the D to play offense as well.

Yeah where 2-1 and that seems good but If revis is done for, I don't see us being a contender. The receiving core is a little weak, we can't run the ball well and our D looks like crap. I hope it gets better but if not we Probably end up around 7-9.

If you watched Holmes catch 9 for 145 and draw key penalties and your only takeaway is that it annoys you that he wants a flag when he's due one then I question wtf you're doing wasting your time watching this team play.

And his complaining for a flag has been working out great. And almost every other team has been complaining for flags all season. Everyone is trying to work the refs.

And the future is easy. Everyone is going to get pissed off when Wilson/Cro lets someone beat them deep. Everyone is going to judge them to Revis standards and expect them to get 0 catches when if you watch almost every other corner in the NFL, that's not the case. They are going to get burnt quite a bit, it's the way of the corner in the NFL.

And I think they might continue with Wilson inside and Lankster outside. They seem to like to keep Wilson in the middle of the field on the slot and he has done a pretty good job. One bad PI, one great play that wasn't a catch to Fasano, and the only big completion he gave up was 3rd and very long and the Jets were keeping everyoe in front of them

The last 10 SB winning teams have done so without a single player named Revis. We can too.

There's something to be said about a Defense playing soft waiting for Revis to make the winning play. Or an offense playing soft waiting for Bush to break a 70 yrd TD run.

Take away the superstar, and the other 10 payers suddenly start playing with urgency. There's no 'silver bullet' behind them to save the day. It's them, or it's nothing.

Any of you who have played sports on any level, and had a superstar on your team, know exactly what I'm talking about.

Jets standing doesn't matter until the game vs NE ends.

I'd say their standing doesn't matter until after week 17.

That being said, it is nice to be on top...as temporary as it seems.

they played some good teams. and that FG was as close as it gets. it could very easly be us at 1-2 and them at 2-1 right now.

eihter way, its moot. its week 3 and the next stretch of 5 games will let us know who we are as a team.

I just hope to see Powell get the start soon ... I would love to see what he could do with 20 carries .... and THEN bring in Greene in the second half to pound the defense into scrap. That was always when he was at his best.

Also where the hell did Mcknight disappear to on offense?
