Per roto. “It’s not a matter of if, but when. It’s definitely happening.” Looks like post draft. I post it because the statement reported was unusually definitive. With that said.... Should we pursue? He’d be a solid get for our wr group especially if we draft Allen. His skills coincide well with Dez. The only big question is his attitude and will it be detrimental to a young team. I worry we don’t have the culture or head coach to keep him in check. I think fwiw the saints also make a hard push, should this actually come to pass. But we do have the money and having Dez Pryor Robbie and enunwa would be pretty stout imo and allow us to employ all our WRs to their strength, especially since it appears tight end will be a weak spot again.
With Pryor, Enuwa, Kearse, Anderson, Hansen and Stewart I don't think Dez fits here. 1. Older player. 2. Attitude issue. 3. Probably wants to go to a team that could win. In a different situation or time maybe but where we are in our rebuilding it'd be an issue for everyone. I don't think the Jets will be interested. I could see him go to Seattle, Maybe Green Bay (though I don't think he'd fit in there), maybe New Orleans or Miami because Tannebaum loves collecting names past their prime. He'll go places with established qbs and Dez would know that he is a complimentary piece not the star or starter. Be interesting to see where he lands.
I imagine it would be much like most older players. He will have opportunities to go to a contender for sure and at this point in his career will take the chance at a ring over the difference in $. I wouldn't embarrass ourselves again with the most $ offer only to get turned down for a contender again.
The destination for Bryant that scares me is NE. Withe Belicheck and Brady reigning him in he could be a monster there.
I really won't mind him but let's take this to NFL Forum until we know Jets are in the pursuit. Will carry it back if he is rumored to the Jets
we may have 16 wrs but even at his advanced age he is probably better than all of them. that said he wont come here for the reasons stated earlier. hes a pretty decent wr though.
I wouldn't be upset if we signed him, but I don't think he fits into the teams plans right now. Similar to Suh, he's a good player (although with Dez, I think he is on the downhill side of his career), and would be nice to have, but he won't be here in 2-3 years when we hope to be truly competitive.
An older guy who never was considered a speed guy, but a large target who would win out contested catches if his route running didnt get him open. Its been 3 full seasons since he's come close to the 1,000 yard mark. At this point he's a big name, but is more of a Kerse type producer with an attitude from hell. Not exactly the guy we want on our team or in our locker room.
Dez is just a big name. He is not that good of Wr the last couple of years. With his declining skills and bad attitude, no way I touch this guy
Again, why leave a state with zero income tax requirements to come to a perennial losing team playing in one of the highest taxed states in the union? Ruling out the huge step back professionally, it makes no economic sense to sign with any EC team. Dez Bryant playing on the Jets would be a redo Plaxico Burris. Perhaps Dez isn't stupid enough to shoot himself though..
ton of talent, but health issues, lack of production over the past 3 years, and attitude issues and will likely seek a mega contract, so i'll pass on him personally. Would hate to see him in NE though
It's pretty clear that between injuries and production he has been far from elite for three years. In 2014 he was Larry Fitzgerald-level, but those days are long gone. I don't think he'll get the contract he thinks he deserves from anyone, but playing on a team with the QB performance likely to happen this year on the Jets would make it unlikely he'd get the contract he thinks he deserves the following year as well. Bad idea for him, bad idea for the Jets.
His best bet is to sign with Houston and catch touchdowns from Deshaun Watson. He'll have it easier with Hopkins on the other side and a better qb to play with.
He's not the player he used to be and he's hitting 30 in mid-season. Somebody may get a decent receiver out of him if they pair him with the right QB but he has a 50% catch rate over his last 3 seasons and only 13.5 yards per reception. Those numbers just don't go together for a good receiver. Bryant has averaged just 6.75 yards per pass thrown his way over his last 38 games and it takes a bunch of pass interference penalties on the guys covering him to make up for that.
