Do any of you believe Greg Salas could be our number 2 WR?

I think that this kid is very underrated right meow. He had been nothing but productive with the reps he has been given.

He is sure handed, fast, good route runner, consistent and shows up in big spots.

I'm extremely high on this kid and I hope the coaching staff are truly considering this kid as an every Sunday starter on the outside.

MM loves this kid, I just think he may surprise and be the guy that comes out on top.

It's possible but no. These training camp hall of famers don't impress me anymore. When he does it consistently in games that matter then I'll believe it.

I highly doubt it. Until you do it during the season I don't really care.

He could become a nice player to have on the roster, but I don't see him as a starter. I was very pleased when the Jets acquired him. I then got ridiculed for saying he could make the roster for 2014.

I think the #2 spot will go to whoever comes through in the regular season. You may see Hill start out as #2, then shift to Nelson for a few games, then shift back to Hill and finally shift to Salsa (but only if he's 'hot', not mild).

In other words we have 3-4 receivers who are all about the same and any one of them could be that guy. Might depend on who we're playing. For example if we're playing press corners, I wouldn't plan on seeing Hill as #2.

Didn't he do that though with the chance he was given last year? Did you watch the Saints game last year?

He hasn't been given a legit shot, when his number was called, he produces.

Yes, I think he can. He's got good size at 6'2, great hands and a really good route runner. He's not a burner but this is a guy who was talented with prolific college numbers. Nelson is the obvious other guy to play on the outside but he doesn't seem to have the same YAC and separation ability as Salas.

I don't think your entirely wrong but I don't think it will be a committee approach either like at RB.

It would be way to hard for Geno to have consistent rhythm working like that on a consistent basis. There has to be continuity there in my opinion.

I watched him at practice on Monday. I was surprised how big he was, he's Decker's size.

He is definitely talented but I don't think he could be a number 2 right now.

Well, that's fair. Sometimes you can go out on a limb on a guy though that you watch. We as fans can't help that he hasn't been given more shots to make a name for himself but I think that's about to change. Maybe it already is changing, momentum seems to be leaning his way right now.

I don't think it works that literally in this offense, numbering WR's seems pretty pointless, if anything we'll have a whole different set of numbered targets on any given play.

if you mean Do we think Salas can earn a lot starting reps… Not at this time? he has to make the team first.

Nice thread, I've been rooting for him, and hearing good things about him.

When we signed him last year, it seemed as if he was somebody with potential who was still let go. Maybe Marty can get that out of him. You don't need a game changing #1 in this league. You need reliable pass catchers, mixed with depth.

hell to the naww. He was one of the "practice squad" calibur guys that could only get in a JETS rotation the way we had paper thin depth at WR. He was one of my excuses for Geno .. "Who the hell would prosper with David Nelson and Greg Salas as their top weapons" (Me after the first dolphins game)

I think he's being overrated. He caught 2 balls against the Saints and 8 all season.

    No.

It's decker, Nelson/hill & Kerley. Kerley will be Mr. 3rd down.

If Greg Salas is your #2 then your offense has real problems. Kerley's the #2 and deservedly so
