Do you remember when we used to blitz?

When Rex first took over, we blitzed all the time and got serious pressure on QBs. We boasted having the ability to cover WRs long enough to get to the QB or force the QB to throw it away. In the past year, we stopped blitzing. I mean, what the hell? Has Rex lost his balls? Our defense can't generate pressure with only three guys rushing.

Revis Island is no longer. He allowed the defense to play many exotic blitzes due to his great man to man coverage. The Jets don't trust Cromartie to play the same way, simple as that.

We lost Revis. Too bad, especially because Coples and Wilkerson with Revis and Cro in the backfield is an amazing thought.

Yeah I remember, then the league adapted. Remember the Vikings MNF game?

Remember when Rex got blasted for blitzing too much?

It stopped us when we didn't blitz.

But yes, that is one common counter to blitzing.

We blitz, we don't just blitz 7 or 8 too often anymore. It worked when teams weren't ready for it, but once they can see the 7 or 8 coming, it makes it easy to counter, especially if Revis isn't there.

Just because we don't send the house doesn't mean we don't blitz.

Sorry, I wasn't really counting all those times we had three down linemen aided by one linebacker blitzing. When was the last time we seriously sent in five or more guys (Including linemen)?

I was talking about the times we had 3 down lineman and two LB blitzing, making 5 total. It's just that we aren't too good at shedding blockers so even if one person forced brady to move, nobody was there to shut him down.

Five people blitzing is still kind of rare these days.
