I would be very apprehensive to let the Dolphins get Manning. How does this affect your view, if healthy, of aquiring Peyton. Article or post by Mark J. Miller-Scoop Du Jour. This would solidify my view that we would have to make a serious run at him to stay in the mix in the AFC East.

What do you mean 'let the Dolphins get Manning?'

This is the same tard logic that the Jets used to draft Gholston. You don't make draft/FA decisions based on whether other teams in your division may want to pick them up, you make them based on how they will affect the success of your team.

If the Jets think they should sign Manning, then they should try to sign Manning. Not because the Dolphins may try to sign him.

I disagree. You have to look at the whole picture. Dolphins a quickly improving team that needs a good QB to put us in the rearview. I think you look at both things here. It's common sense. It's comparable to trading within your divison and getting killed by the guy that signed with your rival.

If they get him we'll be the third best team in the division next year

I'm not convinced Manning sets the world on fire next year at all, he's 36, coming off a long hiatus, he is hurt in very serious ways, and now away from the dome (albeit in sunny Florida).

Peyton is just not an option for the Jets, the money isn't there. I also do not believe he would want to come to the Jets at all. It isn't a professional organization under Rex Ryan, it doesn't strike me as up Peyton's ally.

One more big hit and Manning could well be finished playing football

Manning outside of the AFC East:
    1. Pats
    2. Jets
    3/4. Phins/Bills ( Toss up )

    Manning goes to the Phins
    1. Pats
    2. Phins
    3. Jets
    4. Bills

We get Manning( we wont, no way in hell he comes to play in the circus that is NY, outside in a cold weather city.)

    1/2. Pats/Jets( toss up )
    2/3 who cares.

IMO, if Manning is released AND he doesn't retire, he will go to a Dome/warm city team that has players. Arizona and Miami come to mind. I pray to god the Texans don't have the balls to go for Manning because that D with Manning throwing to AJ80 with that running attack? dear god..

Ah yes. The continuing quest for a Dan Marino replacement. I forgot that was still going on. I certainly hope they their man.

You can say the exact same thing about and other player in the game.

    But wait

If we want Peyton Manning to keep him away from the Dolphins, then what do we do if the Patriots sign Peyto to keep him away from us ?!?

    Oh please.

I see how this works. Statistically Peyton Manning is just as likely to be eaten by a crocodile during a game as any other player. Peyton Manning is just as likely as any other player to have sex with a tranny at midfield during a game. Peyton Manning is just as likely as any other player to be renamed Fiddle McKauck. Nifty how this works.

one more big hit and anyone can be finished playing football. QBs don't get hit in the neck often, and especially not ones with enough awareness to get rid of the ball like peyton.

So apparently Peyton Manning values warm weather more than a potential super bowl ring. Has the theorizing really come to this? "Oh yeaa arizona looks like a fine place to play with no chance of winning the SB, but hey! its really hot and im in a desert! I'm so glad I didn't retire with diginity!"

Really? You think all of that can happen too?

I would say Manning knows a little better than you or I or anybody else here whether it would be dangerous to return. He has a wife and he has kids and I doubt he wants to make a widow out of her or leave his kids without a father. If he comes back it's because he knows it's no more of a worry than anything else he might do and if he does I would want him in a second.

Its pretty obvious that hes going to sign with Jacksonville. I mean they don't get that cool ocean breeze that you'll get near the water in a place like Miami

He better make sure his will is in order, I mean the rate that these football players are dying at these days is quite alarming. Id also make sure he pays his life insurance premiums just in case.

You never know he could be the next Chris Henry

The point is - yes, any player CAN get hurt, but those hundreds and hundreds of players around the league who have undergone several surgeries and at least one experimental stem cell treatment to repair their necks might just have a moderately higher probability of being injured again. So, your comment, while true, was .... well.... less than enlightening.

    Wait, wut?

There's no more vulnerable position on the field. With the exception of the occasional special teamer who really likes to cuddle.
