As bad a coach as Todd toilet is, don't forget mike McIdiot when the jets clean house. The jets were so badly out-talented AND out-coached today against the jags. Maccagnan has delivered piss poor draft picks the first 4 years--devin smith, hack, maulden, lee, stewart, hansen, just to name a few. He traded a 5th round pick for a CB who has delivered squat. He has ignored the OL totally in 4 years of drafting. He spent nearly all of his 2017 draft on DBs and receivers, and picked zero OL and DL that year. He signed wilkinson, revis, turnstile beachum and fitzpatrick to terrible contracts and appears to have struck out with trumaine johnson as well (beaten badly by retread donte mongrief today). In fact, the only two really reliable jets this year have been Powell and Enumwa--neither of whom were brought here by Mike McIdiot. What a combination--a GM with no idea of who to sign or draft, and a coach who has been over his head since day 1. But, hey, they each just got two-year extensions this offseason!

100% Mac has to go with Bowles. Bowles is dragging the team down, but I'm not convinced Sean McVay could win with this roster. Or at least I don't think McVay would do any better with the Jets roster than Bowles would do with the Rams roster.

Trumaine Johnson has made some good plays so far....that's a reach saying he was a bad signing 4 games in.

The team stinks talent wise but Bowles is a bad coach that makes bad decisions which makes it worse

I can give you 70 million reasons why this guy was a bad signing,,,,yes we needed a CB badly but this guy was THE WEAKEST LINK ON THE ENTIRE Ram defense !!!! How did he look out there today ? ugh

Bingo. That is what we are dealing with in a nutshell.

Bottom line - Mac has not done nearly enough to convince me he should stay. His job was to restore hope to a fan base of losing team. In 4 years he has done anything but. I have never felt more hopeless as a Jets fan.

Couldn’t agree more with the OP. Bowles makes it too easy to want to place blame on him, both truth be told, Mac is just as culpibale as Todd.

If you go back and look at what he did in Houston as a scout, it was very underwhelming (excluding Watt) and that performance has carried over to the Jets. Almost every CB and WR he’s chosen has been awful, he’s neglected the OL, DL and LB positions and his pick of Hack was simply inexcusible. Furthermore, everyone keeps saying that L Williams was a lucky pick and that Mac was lucky but smart to land him at #5. Maybe, just maybe, other teams saw what Leonard really is (a fine player at best) and passed on him for that reason, but Mac was too dumb to see it himself. If we’re being honest, Leonard has been fine, AT BEST.

Todd blows, but as far as I’m concerned so does Mac. They came in together and they need to go together. That’s said, we all know that’s not happening so cant wait for him to have another $90 mill to piss away this offseason.

$72mil worth of good plays? No, he hasn't. I'm just not seeing the ROI here.

There's always the possibility that ChrisJ will keep Macc and bounce Blowes. If CJ has the balls, and the authority to fire both, I'd be real impressed if he took such a step to remake the structure of the franchise. What the Johnson have been doing since they bought the team at best has provided sketchy results.
    Time for a change.

Can't fire one without the other. Neither has earned that support. This team is lacking serious talent, and the talent they do have has been coached poorly.

    They both have to go.

I thank Mac for landing Darnold but his draft picks have been underwhelming thus far, and his free agent signings are mediocre to bad. A hard reset is most likely needed, in order to attract the best head coach candidates. To be honest, a hard reset should have been done a year ago, but the Johnson's held on a year too long to promote stability. That's exactly what we got too... stability in the loss column.

Today is October 1st, 2018, and I've already lost any semblance of hope I'd see the Jets win more games than they'd lose. It's not easy being a Jets fan when they're routinely bad and boring to watch. Heck, even the Cleveland Browns this year are more entertaining and competitive than Same Ol Jets....let's be honest, we are now worse than Cleveland. Each year I try to buy into the hope/hype the Jets are selling, only to be fooled like Charlie Brown is by Lucy.

Bingo. They come as a pair, they go as a pair. No sense to keep one or the other when a new hire for either position will have differing ideologies from both Bowles and Macc.

Yup. Mac is a huge part of the problem. He's not a GM, just a glorified cap guy. Time to bring in a real architect to build this thing the right way. Someone proven who's done it before or someone who's highly thought of in league wide circles. Mac was neither of those.

Wrong. Mac was highly recommend by Wolff and Casserley and was thought highly of in league circles.

Rarely is a GM fired by one team and hired by another. Usually, they were fired because they had an awful eye for talent.

Kotite era was tough but it was only 2 years. Coming out of the Kotite era we had a talented team with a HOF Coach coming in.

Yes, Idzik was awful but again only 2 years.

We are now on our 4th or 5th “rebuild” since the years we went to AFC Championship in back to back years. I consider a team in perpetual rebuild mode pretty hopeless.

Macc wanted to do a total rebuild the day he came in, but Johnson wanted one more shot with the roster we had, so Macc spent Idzic's $ on FA's instead of cleaning house THEN. Now, 2 years later he finally got the go ahead to clean house and had $90M of cap waiting on the other side.

Basically, this is like Macc's first year.

Bowles, on the other hand, has been handed garbage to coach and win with. Over the hill running backs, Hackenburg, The Beard, McCown, etc, Revis 4.0, and NO love for the O-Line. Besides players, Bowles needs someone in the booth to help him with clock management (same as Rex).
