If you ask me (and nobody did) I really think the jets need to draft a top flight running back in round ONE, either as part of a trade down from 4 or as part of a trade up from 29. We are rebuilding, and, c'mon, we don't really think Martin is our future at RB, do we? When we played Denver in the 98 AFC title game the starting RBs were Martin and Terrell Davis. Denver has moved past Davis to Portis, past Portis to Mike Anderson, and now past Anderson to Bell. That is what good teams do--move on. And yet, we still have Martin signed for 4 more years(?). Let's start the future NOW with either White or Williams. Pair either with Houston and we have a good young pair of stud RBs for years. Blaylock is another Boobway error, and he and Curtis could be released after July 1. I also think a QB drafted this year may be premature. Ramsey was a number 1 pick, and Chad, who knows? Yeah, I don't think Pennington has much left, but IF either Patrick or Chad really impress in 2006, what then do we do the with Young, Cutler, etc.? I know we need lineman and I'm not saying draft a ton of RBs, but damn it, IT'S TIME to get a good halfback. With three picks in the top 35, let's face reality with Hall of famer Martin once and for all, and really start rebuilding, not living in the past.

Couldnt agree with you more and if we trade down Lendale White would be a great choice. He will be great with the ability to move like he does with his size.

I would like to see DeAngelo Williams picked up with our second pick. We'd have to trade up to probably 20 or a little higher(although i saw a mock draft where we picked him up at 29 lol)

    Not this year guys.

Let's give Cedric Houston a chance first.

cedric houston is a good backup rb. insurance incase our starting rb gets hurt. I also think that we should draft a rb but with our 2nd 1st rd pick. I like maroney and that addai kid (don't know if that's how it's spelled). Now if we could move up to pick d.williams then I would love that too, but i don't think we will be moving up in this draft, moving down seems to be the theme for this FO so far.

I go for QB first because RB is the position that supposedly needs the least amount of time to transition.

i wanna see how he does when teams gameplan around him.

i dotn think he will have as much success after he is seen as the jets starter instead of the 3rd string replacement

I like Houston with a true Fullback and solid line. I really dont know much about Ramsey, I havent watch him play just his stats but I hope there was a reason the front office traded for him other then just a back up for Chad. Washington didnt really want him so I figure that he isnt going to be that good. So we might want to pick up a QB this year and give Houston a chance to see if he is going to be our guy or just a back up.

It's not a great idea to go after the RB before we get our franchise QB...

    Cowboys took Aikman before Smith

Colts took Manning before they took Edge

Denver Broncos got their franchise QB first and then eventually got the right RB...

I am not going to say this is the only way to rebuild a team, but I just think it has been done like this quite well in the past.

We might already have a franchise QB in Ramsey, lets see what he's got first. If he's a dud, then we draft a franchise QB next year.
But we need a franchise RB now. Curtis isn't getting any younger (he really showed his age last season). I'm really getting sick of "Hand off the curtis martin, dives forward for a gain of 1." over and over. And blaylock and houston are no more than backups. It's time for a franchise RB and D. Williams is the answer.

I'm with you. Every great team has a great QB. You build teams around QB's, not RB's. I'd love to have both, but QB is the more important position.

I think you have to draft the QB 1st since the tend to play longer then the RB position. It takes more time to become a good QB then a HB. A RB can just be placed into the starting role and thrive just ask Curtis Martin and the denver people

Since I think you mean well and are a nice guy I will make you a better Deangelo avatar...

PS: Martin Showed his "age" last year because he was running with one leg...he tore up his knee in week 2 bro...

    Correct, correct, correct...

QB's almost always last longer then RB's...it takes aot more work and time to become a solid QB in the NFL...

QB is the way to start this thing off...Matt Leinart would be perfect.
