*** RUMOR *** RUMOR *** RUMOR *** Word is making its way around a few message boards (e.g., FinHeaven) that Brees has signed with Miami for six years, $55-$58 million. This is not yet confirmed by any major news organization that I'm aware of. Thoughts? I'm a happy Jet fan..... I'd go insane if the Jets made this deal.... But, Miami has less options and the selection of the next QB is what will set these teams apart for the near future.... (Lineart, Cutler - Young - Ramsey???) Brees - HA!!!! I say he blows. They might as well have signed Chad.. So, they are going to play Herm Ball and run run run, try to revamp the defense and play it tight? Good luck... I say STRIKE 1 for Saban.
I think that this is a good signing for the Fish. The only thing to be concerned about is his shoulder. He's proven that he can win in a system that lets him utilize his talents.
his talents of LT/Gates....... thats the anti-phins view of mine any move the phins made at qb was going to be a good one...could not get any worse than what they have had the past few years(although i think brees>culpepper) its a shame ricky probably wont play he would have really helped(at least in a trade), but if brees stays healthy i think he will do well for the phins....im just glad he has a history of losing to us
It's a good signing by the Fins, and Saban is solid. But Brees has never been a Jet killer, so I'll take my chances.
Oh Come on.... We beat Drew Brees.... On another board Charger fans discussed how the Jet DB's crowded the line in their playoff loss - The guy had an average arm in a loaded offense with a better OL.. Also had a very mediocre season, missed the playoffs and had a few picks. Now he has to learn a new offense AND rehab - You know what - For all the options Miami had at QB, I'll take on Brees any day. I'm just not shaken in my shoes - I say we STILL beat Miami. NOW.. let's see who the Jets go with...
I don't know why people are flipping out without a link...these kind of rumors have been all over the place this offseason. I need to see a link before I can start worrying about it.
Brees may take less money to compete for a championship. I know I would. I mean if I had to choose from 70 million and going 5-11 or 60 million and competing, I would take 60.
Who's to say New Orleans can't compete for a Superbowl in a few years? Sorry...any intelligent person would take the extra 10 million dollars...
I'm not sure if I would count it as good news,but I'm not worried either. the guy played with Gates and Tomlinson in SD and that may have made him look good.
Why are they giving him this huge deal? Havent they learned from us that giving huge deals to QB's coming off shoulder injuries doesnt work out. Oh well who cares this deal will end up going bad and the fins will still suck. Ill laugh at all phins fans if he hurts his throwing shoulder again. Theyll have the same situation that we had with Penny this year and soon enough theyll find out their in cap hell.ricky williams :finssuck:
