its good that he is playing...but i don't like ellis playing with one hand but could be huge for us...he needs to be able to wrap up in the backfield
yeah with his hand all clubbed up, it will be easier for him to just throw an off balance lineman aside with his club but its going to be nearly impossible for him to wrap up. Betcha everything that Ellis spends 75% of his week learning how to tackle with one hand.
i really hope they figure this out....we need ellis as close to normal as possible..but i really do feel good about Devito seeing more playing time
He's the anti-John Abraham. You could argue he's the defining Jet of the past decade all of a sudden.
Rex just said something on 1050 about working with Ellis this week on the "Alligator roll" technique or something like that. I assume it's some kind of tackling method that can be executed with a club hand. Anyone know what that is exactly?
Hands are not required to wrap up a tackle. Only arms are. Being able to grab a piece of the uniform with the fingers is butter when making a proper tackle. This injury will, however, limit his ability to make bad tackles with one arm or his hand, which at this level could be significant, as we saw on Sunday. Big Kat rulez!
i would assume its when the defender just gets the person wrapped up and then rolls to take the guy down with his body weight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZhHHVsAnI4
Seems like it it would mean instead of driving forward with the legs, tortioning to one side or the other after the hit and wrap.
