By this I mean which player or player(s) do you see as beating the odds and making the team? For me, if Ventrone has another strong outing on ST he may just be one of the guys to land on the squad. He definitely has a nose for the ball on ST and wasn't horrible in coverage. I think that Mangini likes some of these guys who are a little "raw" and can be molded into the prototype player he envisions. What sayeth you? And by the way, when are the next round of roster cuts coming up?
this isnt much of a sleeper but danny ware will make the team and be our #3 RB barring him getting injured before the end of preseason. i like him, the kid was a monster at UGA but had injury problems. if thats in the past he might be a guy you see in green for the next few years.
Well I am not sure what constitutes a sleeper exactly, but I think Jacob Bender will stick as will Wallace Wright and at LB I think Cody Spencer...
I've been wrong plenty of times, but here goes: I am concerned with Eric Smith's injury, and if he isnt ready, then ventrone could claim that spot. Banks is a possible sleeper. Although ware has outrushed him, banks has done well on ST. One of them could end up on the PS. I said it before, but either TUi or ratliff could stick because they need a Qb to run the scout team. If Brad Smith is bypassed from scout duty again this week, i think the writing is on the wall to keep one of the other guys for scout duties. (Maybe ratliff on the PS).
But Smith really moved up the depth chart last season right...so are u saying he will be cut loose or jsut put into a backup role until he gets better?
I think Pociak could stick, with Tutt going Bye-Bye. The Ware/Banks competition is interesting, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that BOTH lose out to someone we pick up from another team's final cuts. Even then, I think one of the two will make the PS. It's gonna be hard to not keep Ventrone--esp. if Westhoff has a say. I'm not sure if Wright is still considered a long shot, but I think he makes the team.
I'd say that if anyone is a "sure thing" to make the team, it's Wright- he's good WR depth and probably one of our top 2 guys on ST- no way you let someone like him walk.
I wasnt impressed with Tutt before he got hurt, and nnow he has lost some valuable reps. but does the team dare go with only one FB? Kowalewski was outplaying Pociask until HE got hurt, and Pozie has made the most of his reps. But they cant carry 4 TEs, so one of them may go, since Ryan and Baker are in.
Any chance of Manny Collins being a "sleeper keeper?" I think he could at least make the practice team if he continues to surprise to the upside.
practice squad is as far as he'll go. with all the TE/H-Back/FB tweeners we have he'll be best kept as a scout team player. then again maybe im wrong.
i havent heard anything positive about haynes and almost nothing about wadsworth, thats usually not a good sign, i wouldnt be suprised if both get cut, although im pulling for wadsworth to make the team, nice feel good story
Sleepers to make the team? I'd go with Michael Sullivan; John Reilly & Tommy Marcano are dead and Shakes was a pussy.
My thinking was that Pozie, being such a good bocker, is kind of a FB/TE hybrid Hback type who could do SOME of the things a typical FB would. When you say they can't carry 4 TE's, are you counting Dearth as a TE? If so, both Pozie and Kowalewski are gone, right?
Now that Revis is in camp and Drew Coleman is practicing, manny's reps were sharply reduced yesterday. once Miller comes back, i think he'll be expendable.
ummm sleepers to make the team, i think Ventrone has a real godo shot, the best way to make a team is to impress on ST and he is doing that at the moment, another good game and he has got to be kept. Ware/Banks, Ware will probably make the team, but i persoanlly have really been impressed with Banks, so im hoping that he makes the team.
I wasnt even counting Dearth in there. Kowalewski is PS eligible; I'm not sure about Pozie- he is listed as having two years. Wadsworth will be cut, imo. The thing with haynes and Hicks, and to some extent Kenyon, is that none of them have stood out or really done anything to justify keeping them. One of them needs to break out and separate from the others. maybe none of them are good enough to do that. They have all looked like a pack of jags in tc and preseason.
I agree with Ware and Ventrone making it. I think the biggest surprise will be Blake Costanzo who had an NFLE season of outstanding proportions. This guy is a playmaker , even at NFL level. Hopefully he will see some pre season action in his preferred MLB role , I know its unofficial but Hes ahead of Harris. Schlegal will be gone , what a waste of a pick that was. I saw enough of Sean Ryan that I liked , and so far in pre season hes been given the oppertunity to shine and hes grabbed it with both hands  Whilst I don't think Barnes will be spectacular , I still think he will be very productive. Tutt just hasn't looked very good at all , thumbs down. I like Bender and think hes going to be another quiet but studious player in the mould of Mangold , could even turn out to be our ROY. Hope I'm wrong here , but I think Revis will be very ordinary until we get into the final stretch of the season , it will take alot of work to catch up. But my 'one to watch' is Costanzo.
