Slow day at work today, so I've been watching some highlight videos of our team's past season. Since it's the slow time of the year regarding any Jets news, I thought it would be cool for people to post a YouTube video of their favorite Jets play this past year. You can do both offense and defense if you want, and it doesn't matter if your decision was based on the "wow" factor or how it impacted our success this season. I decided to go with the "wow" factor. I remember I was at my Monday night poker game, and when Edwards made that catch I almost flipped the table jumping out of my seat. I was going to choose the strip sack by Pace and TD recovery by Douglas against the Colts because that IMO was one of the biggest impact plays of the year, but this one edged it out.
every time i watched that first angle on the play I say to myself there is just no freaking way he caught that ball in bounds. even the ref looks flabbergasted. But yeah that was really the turning point of our season in many ways. Bringing in Edwards showed we would not stand pat, and that we were looking to win now. Sanchez showed he could handle the monday night spotlight. Then Cotch got hurt and Sanchez just started forcing stuff to braylon and the season took a downward spiral then cotch comes back and is healthy and omg we are back to rockin and rolling again. That play is the reason Edwards has got to stay in NY. actually that entire game is the reason he needs to stay in NY. he showed us how big of a beast he can be that night, with an offseason of work I think we might just see that Braylon a little more consistently which with our run game and defense, should scare a whole lot of people

Sanchez dive for the TD against Titans.
The 4th and 1 dive to seal the victory @SD and a spot in the AFC Championship game. The execution of the play wasn't anything special, but the meaning of it was.
Revis' pick 6 off Steve Smiths foot... people actually think that it was a freak play. Nope, its called Divine Intervention.
I'm going to stick to the regular season. Offense: Shonn Greene breaks a 33 yard TD run against the Oakland Raiders, enroute to a 144 yd 2 TD performance. This one was coming on the heels of one of the worst plays of the year for me... earlier in the game, Leon Washington had broken his leg, and we hadn't really seen ANY of Greene before this game. He had gotten significant yardage and a TD up to this point in the game, but this play showed his ability to break tackles and his second gear to get to the second level. Hope. Defense: Patriots at Jets, Darrelle Revis picks off Tom Brady Probably one of the most hyped games of the year, playing against the hated Brady and Moss, and Revis takes a giant step toward one of the most dominant seasons an NFL CB has ever had. Greatness. Special Teams: Brad Smith returns 106 yard kickoff to start the half against the Colts. For the simple reason that I had waited the entire season for someone to take it to the house, and we finally got to see what happens when Brad Smith gets into open space. Versitility.
This was my favorite play, too, and I disagree that the execution wasn't anything special. On a play when everyone in the universe knew what was coming, our O-line absolutely blew them two yards off the line of scrimmage. But my favorite part of that play was watching Tony Richardson obliterate Kevin Burnett in front of TJ. Burnett was coming in full speed, Richardson drills him head-on. Burnett then falls off the block, grasping his shoulder in pain as he hits the ground. T-Rich simply raises his arms in victory as he sees TJ get the first. Fuck yes.
So dominant. Tony Richardson makes that play my favorite, though. I don't know where to find it, but if you can find a slo-mo replay, just watch what T-Rich does on that play. Full speed is nice, but the slo-mo is just...well, it's my favorite play of the year. It's like watching an automobile crash test where the wall gets to do a victory walk.
Besides winning the SB, there will be nothing sweeter than beating BB and TB. So the best play is a tie between the two kneel downs by Mark Sanchez in wk 3. If I have to pick an 'actual' play, I think the OP has picked a great play. I also like the Revis pick against the Bengals (?) where he picked up the QB while the WR had a much better angle to make the catch while Revis knocked it out and picked it off bouncing off his or WRs body.
I think my favorite play was either Greene's TD against the Chargers or what the OP picked, for several reasons. For one, on that play Sanchez wasn't locking onto any specific receiver, as he'd done a few times his rookie season, and he paid for it in INTs. The ball was snapped, he showed great footwork, kept his feet moving/pumping, displayed his nice pump fake in one direction...then turned on an absolute dime, and threw it in that direction, opposite side of the field...Braylon was covered by 2 players, and Sanchez managed to throw a nice spiral where only Braylon could come down with the catch, and Braylon did, showing his athleticism as he made the catch, spun mid-air, and came down in the endzone for what should have been a called TD. Everything about that play was just so pretty. It showcased what Sanchez has in his skillset nicely.
The TD run out of the wildcat by Brad Smith against the Bengals in the last game of the season. Also that Sanchez td run against the titans was an awesome highlight to our season.
That was a great play. Since no one else nominated it, I'll nominate the Shonn Greene playoff TD run against THE BENGALS. I went berserk during that play, and it set up the one the next week 'cause i came to expect it ; ) I became a believer. Likewise.... Second nomination: That spectacular Revis end zone pick against the Raiders. That was the play where I could no longer deny Revis Christ as our savior.
Absolutely. At that point, I really thought we were going to the Super Bowl. It was the greatest high I've ever gotten from sports, after Endy Chavez's catch.
