This is a team that will look completely different than it did in the past few years. Yes I do believe that we will be installed with youth. But not in every place you look. We are mainly looking for stopgap players and then some young ones. We will build through the draft by trading down and acquiring more picks. Thats how this team will be built.

The only FA Signing I can see are these :

Ted Washington - He is the NT we are looking at and I will gladly welcome him to NY. SIGNED BY BROWNS

Sam Adams - He becomes our target since Washington was signed already. We need a big body to plug up the middle a big and we can rotate D-Rob with Adams and Kimo

Willie McGinest - He will do a good job in assiting Sutton with teaching our young LB's and defense about the system. And he can still perform at a good level.

Seth McKinney - He will be re-united with Tony Wise and will battle it out with either Mangold or Esclinger for the starting C spot next year.

Tom Ashworth - When he is healthy he has played well. Has experience and has a chance to surprise a lot of people.

Brad Hopkins - Will be brought in to bring vetern experience to our LT position. And will battle it out with Adrian Jones.

Matt Chatham - Has a chance to becoming a decent LB and will add much needed depth in the 3-4. Also is a very good special teamer. SIGNED

Kimo Von Oelhoffen - Will add depth to the DL and will push Bryan Thomas for DE position. Is more of a 3-4 DE compared to a DT. Would be a good addition, I prefer him over Kimo. SIGNED

Patrick Ramsey - Will be aquired via trade for a simple price. Can flourish in new system. Or will flop under the NY spotlight.

So now that the Browns have signed Shaffer to be LT, what is happening to LJ Shelton? I have always liked Shelton, he's a big big man and is a pro-bowl type player. Thoughts?? I'd definitely look into bringing him in...

He has the size to play RT too, anyone got info on the guy?

Given that we're not losing any FAs of real value, this is the year to go after guys without worrying about the loss of com picks. Still can't believe it looks like we'll effectively have given up a 4th round choice for Barry Gardner

Yeah I know. We should sign every single free agent, and have our team salary balloon up to $300M. Screw the rules, and screw the right way to build a football team!!!

I guess you taking what I said out of context makes you feel better. To eaches own.

according to you, allowing the first day of free agency to just pass by is the right way to build a team.

    Gotta love those Jet fans

I like what i see there. If we could nab every one of them and draft well we could compete in 06 our divisions getting weaker.

So because the Jets didn't throw huge money at a free agent, instead having interviews with more role-player types, they're not building a team the right way? Sorry to tell you, signing key free agents that can be roleplayers is the right way to approach free agency. You build through the draft and by signing those type of free agents. Then, after you have a team in place that has been built this way and you are ready to make a run, if there is a player on the free agent market who can put you over the top, you explore that option. Signing one of the big money free agents that were gone by day one is not something this franchise will do, and we are better off because of that.

make a run ??? ha ha ha ha
Your typing a thematic essay for no reason. I simply stated my frustration with teams signing and us not. I have that right. So take a seat and relax.

What's so funny? You don't think any team in the rest of the NFL's history will ever be in a position to compete for a championship? Because I said after you have a team in place and you are ready to make a run, that's when you can go after higher priced free agents.

WTF are you talking about, thematic essay? You were guessing as to how I believe a team should be built, and I responded with how I feel. Of course you have a right to say that, and I have a right to respond to that.

am all for not overpaying for players but to not at least be heard from by now is starting to get me a little angry. I mean the whole point of this offseason is to improve your team and so far our team is not doing much to do just that. I dont care about how close we are to bringing in a qb, or for that matter a mid 30's tackle. There are some decent players still out there who I would like to see sign with us but i keep getting the feeling that this FO has made up there minds to soon. I mean at the very least look like you are trying to sign someone, we have the cap room now lets start using it.

Interviewing Ashworth, Jones, Hopkins, Chatham, Kitna, Pope, von Oelhoffen, and having discussions that we don't even know about with the agents for other players shows me that they are interested in some free agents, and may make a move to sign one or two of them.

with the exception of kitna, ashworth and maybe chatman who may help us on ST and add depth to our LB's i dont see how hopkins pope or von oelhoffen could help or improve our team that significantly and please dont get me started on tebucky i know he may know mangina's D but i would rather us spend our time interviewing guys who could actually come here and start. tebucky won't start here.

A team looking for good value in free agency will normally not make a splash early unless a player really wants to be there. Right now, with unproven staff we are not choice number one for most players unless we are the high bidder. We will probably only bring in lower teir and or players with previous relationships to staff members. When did NE ever break the bank in free agency?
