I'm going to get killed for this, and I am not saying he had good drafts in his time here or that he would have known what to do with the money. However, I just want everyone to realize that we are having a very solid offseason, and a HUGE reason for that is that Idzik pinched pennies when he should have pinched pennies in a dreadful FA group last season. It is because of Idzik that this team is able to move forward and make marquee moves. I'm not defending his drafts (though I certainly don't think they were as bad as people made them out to be), but let's not pretend like MacCagnan wasn't handed a blank check because of the money-saving efforts of Idzik, who will forever get more undue hatred than any GM in recent memory.

Yes, because I think fans are incredibly short-sighted and never see the big picture. We're now seeing the big picture and MacCagnan reaping the benefits of the plan that Idzik was instilling. Not saying MacCagnan won't pull off the plan better, but I think it's pretty obvious that he was given a lot more to work with financially at the right time to use it.
The only good thing idzik did was nothng. Lol look when you sign players that are terrible like jacoby ford, Goodson etc... You don't have to spend allot. Idzik spent s o little the 89 percent rule was forced on the jets.. I can't give idzik any credit even though yes, his utter incompatance gave us some extra money. He didn't do it on purpose, he had no idea what he was doing.
All the responses I'd expect. Flame away. Not sure how you can say he had no balls when he traded away our best player at the right time and ended up with Richardson. Or that he ignored fan calls to make stupid signings like DRC when our team needed a lot more help than that to succeed. As dumb as you guys think Idzik was, I think our fans are significantly worse.
If Idzik was here I don't think we would have Marshall or even Revis. So fuck Idzik. He would be low balling players that what money guys do.
How about giving some credit to Woody Johnson? According to reports, he was the one who really pushed for Mac to bring Revis back.

But I do think it's short-sighted for everyone to be up MacCagnan's ass for spending a boat load of cash when he has a boat load of cash to spend, and that we really do have Idzik to thank for even being in this cap situation.
As much as you hate that they passed on them, half the board was thrilled coming away with Calvin Pryor and Jace Amaro in the first two picks. I didn't like those picks at all, but still see the forest through the trees. Again, not defending his draft. Just defending his frugalness at the right time last season.
It's the way he's spending it... Let's sum up idzik.... Cut cromartie... Sign Patterson for the same, plus gurantee a millin dollars to him.... Cromartie goes to the pro bowl.. Patterson spends 5 weeks here gets cut and is out of the nfl.. Good thing we gurantee that million. Idzik was utter incompatance
Didn't like the Patterson pick up at all, but Cromartie was awful that year. A player that relies on his natural ability shows signs of injury/aging doesn't normally exhibit a resurgence like he did in AZ. I had no problem getting rid of Cro.
Idzik had 2 good picks out of what 19. Richardson and Amaro.. I liked Pryor at the time, hopefully he develops and than he has 3 good picks.
I would have given him this credit except for the 7 million he threw away on Harvin well after the ship had left. This money would have rolled over to this year plus we would have our 6th.
Cro played hurt all season, the jets new it.. Rex fucked him too... Rex was great at playing the whoa is me cArd and letting idzik take every shovel to the face. Lol
