The thing that really sucks is that we're almost forced into supporting his content since it's one of the only methods of getting constantly written/in-depth material about the team.
Not really. There are many different ways to read about the Jets. I've been boycotting most of their content for almost a decade, although for a couple of things, I have no choice. Cimini is easily avoidable.
I tweeted the link to this thread to Cimini. Here is the confirm from Twitter that it was posted @RichCimini FYI This was posted on the Gang Green Forum http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/hate-rich-cimini.81207/#post-3022740…
Here's my thing with Mehta. He showed up as beat for NYDN and really showed promise as a guy that wanted to report the team with a positive slant. He was replacing that shitbag Cimini, who spent the last few years of his NYDN career doing nothing, absofuckinglutely NOTHING, but quoting anonymous sources that got the ire of Jets fans. After about 6 months, we started seeing Mehta throw out anon sources all day long. Is it really Manish? It is it those fags at the Daily News? Part of me feels bad for Mehta. He wanted to do a good job and got bullied into status quo. The real assholes are ESPN and the assholes editing for NYDN.
All the beat writers are jokes. They report on things like they are auditioning for TMZ. And getting us mad over them is what they strive for. And it works. Its the Francessa factor. You'll always get more attention by posting the negatives when things are going well. Used to be a somewhat respectable part of sports. And their are still some guys out there (mostly old timers) that still get the players respect. But most of these guys are just puppets looking to get clicks and feedback no matter what kind it is. Cimini probably loves that people started this petition to get him replaced.
Sadly Rich is by far the most football competent Jets beat writer. He's the only one at press conferences that will ask football related meaningful questions. I find him snide, arrogant & often times downright negative in his Jets coverage. But he puts Mehta,Costello & Myers to shame. I think the female reporters are the best Jets columnists right now. Both Kristian Dyer & Kim Jones are pretty good.
I would agree with that for the most part Kurt. Kim Jones has cut her teeth on a number of Penn State (and NFL) programs. Beyond that, ask Kimberly Jones about the Illinois Fightin' Illini football coaching staff raiding Penn State to entice players to transfer after the Paterno-Sandusky scandal ………. Kim Jones rightfully called out the sleeezebag Illinois coaching staff on it…and as a result imho is the real deal in this boy's opinion.
I just don't really understand the hate for Cimini. You're right, he's one of the few writers who covers the Jets who can string two sentences together without bashing something Jets for attention. He gives us info, opinion and occasional insider stuff on a consistent basis. I'd rather that the national types who don't follow the Jets until they decide to take a massive dump on them were keying off his stuff than off of Mehta's.
