Im interested to hear from you guys how our draft picks are coming along? I know Mangold and D'Brick are getting amongst it and Smith and Washington are seeing some time, but what about the others? Are they likely to contribute or see any action soon or keep plugging away in practice??? It would be good for someone to review each picks season so far and their projections for the year... cheers.
Anthony Schlegel won team player of the week honors (practice) http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/articles/show/568 he New York Jets announced their four players of the week Monday, a day after the club?s 28-20 divisional road win in Buffalo. Rookie cornerback Drew Coleman received special team honors while fellow defensive back Kerry Rhodes garnered defensive recognition. Fourth-year lineman Brandon Moore was singled out for his offensive exploits
I've got a question for everyone that probably best belongs within this thread. If memory serves, we had two selections in Round 4 and we chose Brad Smith and Leon Washington, correct? Of the two, which was drafted with the pick we got for Herman Edwards (the 4th Round pick from the Chiefs)? Call it morbid satisfaction, but I love seeing either of them being successful, knowing it's the pick that KC gave us for His Slickness. TIA for the answer to my question.
Thanks, dwalsh, that's what I thought. Does anyone else get the huge kick that I do out of seeing Washington make plays like he did yesterday, knowing this was our compensation? For me it just adds a certain additional level of satisfaction to the end of the whole Herman Edwards fiasco that can't compare. I mean, just think... we got rid of that horse's ass and got Washington to boot and look what he did yesterday! Hell, looking back, we should have given THEM a 4th Rounder just to take Edwards off our hands!
dBrick - B+ Mangold - A- Clemens - N/A Shemgel lol - N/A E. Smith - C B. Smith - B Neon Light - B- Unknown TE - D (injured) TiTis Adams - F
Mangold got called for a lineman downfield penalty against the Bills. It erased a nifty run by Washington. Clearly, a rookie mistake. I expect him to receive some good coaching on this during the week. I am pleased with all of our rookies. All in all, it has been a good draft.
Not sure I would give Titus an F. He was a 7th rounder (who looked Ok vs. Philly, preserving the win). Schlegel is bordering on "F" territory, given his draft position. I figure Pociask is like an extra draft pick next year, seeing he's on IR this season.
Not sure about Moore getting the O player o the week award. Didn't really see him opening up a lot of holes in the run game.
1. Brick- May already be the best LT in the AFC East(Light is oft-injured and inconsistent) 2. Mangold- The fact that he is making all the line calls for a winning football team that is starting 3 raw young players on the left side...is amazing 3. Clemmens- let him develop 4. Schlegal- Looks like a long term project who will project as a player like Ted Johnson 5. B Smith- An absolute weapon on the football field...can do alil of everything 6. E Smith- Looks like a locker room guy who excells on special teams 7. Washington- Our version of Kevin Faulk 8.Coleman- Looks like a pretty good nickel corner w/ aot of speed and quickness 9. Titus Adams- I thought he had a good camp and preseason...unfortunately he didnt make the cut.
