During this bye, we all have serious expectations on the defensive moves because that's been the NYJs' history in the last few years of the Mangini & Co. regime -- getting better on defense.

But we have some fits-and-starts promise on the offensive line. Brett has shown a pretty good proclivity for taking advantage of the OL's work as he's bought a lot of time moving around in the pocket.

But how will they get the running game on track? Will Chatman make a big difference? Will Thomas Jones become part of a triumverate of RBs that are used situationally? Are we going to start trapping more? What's going to be the moves that make a difference?

Well, the TEs and RBs are giving up the sacks, not the O Line themselves.

I think Chatman is the bruiser, as long as he is in shape and hasn't lost any strength.

I'd like to see 4 qtrs of good defense.

This is a tough problem you pose. I don't know that the running game can get "on track" with our current RB's. Its a weakness and if we can strengthen, we should. But I would like to see a minimal amount of resources go into this aspect of the game and the larger part of resources go towards the passing game and protection schemes.

I think that the way we ran against 'zona is sufficient. We were not necessarily successful but we did it enough to keep them guessing. I would really like it if we don't increase the number of rushes but rather, attempt to maximize the yards per rush. Of course there is no magic formula for this.

We saw a glimpse of LW getting to be part of the passing offense and I really liked it. Get him outside and things can happen quick.

Our strength is passing the ball--obviously we have the best QB in the league and several receiving threats. Lets become amazing at this aspect.

    Good thought provoking thread.
